Hill Giant Weekly Battle Challenge | Splinterlands #189
This week’s battle challenge focuses on the Hill Giant.
Card Details
A Chaos Legion gold foil common level monster from the Earth unit at level 3:
- Estimated cost: $0.545
- Melee attack: 1
- Speed: 2
- Health: 7
The main antagonists from the beloved children’s book, The BFG by Roald Dahl, were the vicious carnivorous and cruel man-eating Giants. These Giants would prey on young human beans and kidnap them at night and for these kids to never appear again. The Hill Giant, on the other hand, seems much more tranquil than in comparison to its trope compatriot in the BFG. Unlike the Peaceful Giant, who is a passive tank, the Hill Giant is a low mana cost monster with good health and enough damage and speed to inflict some damage to its opposition atleast if provoked.

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?
This was a humbling defeat for me to take. I had many higher-powered cards, but my opposition's strategic combination of having Unicorn Mustang, a hard-hitting melee monster with lots of health, paired with Goblin Psychic and other magic monsters, was swiftly able to dispatch my team without even losing one monster. The Unicorn Mustang is such a great monster, and Goblin Psychic ably supported it with the Tank Heal ability to keep healing it. The Hill Giant didn't stand much chance against a barrage of enemy damage and quickly fell away without being able to inflict any significant damage.
Do you like the Hill Giant? Why or why not?
The Hill Giant is a low mana cost monster with good health (I mean, three mana for seven health is excellent value), low speed, and melee damage. Also, it was cheap. Looking around at alternatives, Battle Orca and Dragon Spirit are alternatives, albeit pricey. Therefore, Hill Giant would be worth adding to your splinterlands collection if you are looking for a cheap low mana cost support tank.
