I sometimes wonder where the creative team gets their inspiration for the different monster designs in splinterlands. I am taken on a nostalgic trip when I write these challenges and look at the monsters' artwork and lore. This time the artwork reminds us of the human enemy of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the mad scientist, also known as Baxter Stockman, who mutated into a fly with bulging eyes. And those eyes in the Mycelic Slipspawn are what triggered this nostalgic trip. Man, the TMNT cartoon of the late 80s was glory years! Focusing on the Mycelic Slipspawn joins the legions of splinterlands monsters as a tanky magic-dealing monster with the complementary Taunt ability. Therefore, its ability and traits make it a versatile monster that can be deployed in various roles and rulesets.

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?
Sometimes those tiny events happen in battles that can prove pivotal in turning a battle in your favor. There was a crucial moment in this battle where both teams were going in 50/50, and then the ever Shieldbearer missed with a hit, and my monsters capitalized on this variance to tilt the battle in my favor. The Mycelic Slipspawn served as the primary DPS tank leading from the front and proccing Taunt so that all enemy monsters attack it. My opposition had similar ideas by deploying the popular Shieldbearer, who has been my undoing in many battles. The backline duo of Vampiric Blossom and Khmer Princess did just enough damage to Shieldbearer to allow the Mycelic Slipspawn to take it down when it missed in that critical moment, and the victory was sealed. Overall a very satisfying win.
Do you like the Mycelic Slipspawn? Why or why not?
As I mentioned above, the Mycelic Slipspawn traits and abilities make it a versatile monster that can be deployed in numerous rulesets and roles. And clearly, the market recognizes it as a single copy of the Mycelic Slipspawn will cost you $0.4. This monster can be helpful in the lower leagues, even at level one. When looking at alternatives, you cannot go wrong with picking this monster up. The Mycelic Slipspawn joins quite an exclusive group of monsters with the Taunt ability-boosting members like The Kraken, Dark Ha'on, and Magnor. And we all know how expensive those monsters can be, so at $0.4 a card, it would be silly not to have Mycelic Slipspawn in your collection.
