Increase Collection Power EFFICIENTLY with these features
With the recent update in Splinterlands' game economy, players are now much more incentivized to move up to higher leagues and increase their collection power -- whether by renting or buying cards. This post aims to help players who are looking to increase their collection power in a cost-efficient manner. All these are possible because of the awesome new features in PeakMonsters.
If you are not yet familiar with Collection Power (CP), check out this post.
Note: For the remainder of this post, cost-efficient pertains to efficiency in terms of Collection Power gained with respect to the cost incurred.
Compare by Collection Power
PeakMonsters has a feature that lets you compare listed cards based on collection power.
To use this feature, simply go to the Buy tab in PeakMonsters. Click on the Compare view as shown in the image below. Then click on the dropdown beside Compare by
(as shown above).
In the succeeding parts, we will be looking closely on how to use these CP based comparison options to buy cost-efficient cards.
Buying: Best CP/Cost ratio
First, we will take a look at the Best CP/Cost ratio feature
. If you are buying cards simply to increase your collection power, this is the best tool to use. This feature gives you a sorted list of which cards give the highest Collection Power with respect to the amount that you are paying.
As of writing, the most cost-efficient card to buy is Exploding Rats, followed by Twilight Basilisk, and Azmare Harpoonist. All of which will yield you CP/cost ratio of more than 80 CP per 1 USD spent.
What if I am building a deck for a certain element?
If you are building a deck for a certain element, you can simply use the filters option in PeakMonsters.
Assuming that I want to improve my Water team, filtering with "Water" will yield me these results. This gives us Azmare Harpoonist, Demented Shark, and Torhilo the Frozen -- all in gold foil edition.
Note: You can find the "Filters" option in the lower right of your screen.
Buying: Price above corresponding DEC burn
For those who prefer buying cards that are certain percentage higher than its corresponding DEC burn, there is a suitable feature for you. Instead of comparing by "Best CP/cost ratio", choose "Price above burn
" in the Compare by dropdown options.
This will give you a list similar to this one.
If your threshold is to buy cards that are priced at maximum of 70% above burn, you have Exploding Rats, Twilight Basilisk, and Azmare Harpoonist to choose from. If your threshold is lower than that, you would have to wait until there are better deals for you.
In this feature, you can also see how much CP you will get for each BCX that you purchase. So if you are few collection power short to move up in your desired league, you can simply buy the cards that are perfect for your CP requirements, and your budget.
Renting: Sort by CP per DEC/day
As of writing, this feature can only be accessed via the PeakMonsters Beta website. Feel free to try it out in the Beta website!
UPDATE: This is already available in the main PeakMonsters website!
Just in time for the end of season rentals craze, PeakMonsters has added an amazing feature that are very beneficial for renters. With the added feature in the Rentals tab, you can now see how much collection power you will get for each DEC spent on renting the card.
This is extremely helpful for those who want to maximize the DEC spent to meet the power requirements
for advancing to the next league.
I believe that in the long run, this feature will also help normalize the rental prices, as renters now have a proper basis of what is "cheap" and "expensive" when renting for power.
What if we sort it based on least cost-efficient rentals?
As you can see, the least cost-efficient cards to rent are the ones that are rented for the card's utility. So if you are renting for the sole purpose of increasing your collection power, it is better to stay away from "meta" cards.
There you have it! I hope this post helps players in adapting to the new changes in the Splinterlands economy, and in renting cheaper cards as we come to a season-end.

I'm not a splinterlands player but really love it when someone is able to write well a good tutorial!
Hi @indayclara! Thank you for the kind words :) You should try playing it even just the trial battle part! I have a feeling that you'll enjoy it too =)
Oh, gosh! Don't tempt me! Its intriguing enough going through some blogs about splinterlands and seeing how you guys are enjoying it! 😅 but I was never the player type. The last thing I enjoyed playing was Spyro the dragon back when PS 1 was a thing! (Not that old though 😝) but hey! You do your thing and I hope you make some bucks out there!
Haha the blog posts are everywhere right? 😛 I had to search when was Spyro the dragon released! Yeah, it was not that old 😛 (I think? haha ). Thank you @indayclara! Take care out there!

This is the most useful function on PeakMonsters! I wasted so much money when I just started playing, trying to reach enough CP for the next level. Yesterday, I discovered this feature. I'm not sure I spent less... I just spent it more effectively :-)
Lol me too! I just think that I just paid the tuition in my previous rentals to become more efficient now =)
Electronic-terrorism, voice to skull and neuro monitoring on Hive and Steem. You can ignore this, but your going to wish you didnt soon.
