Hi guys! Another week for Splinterlands fanart challenge.
I’m sure that many people will love the character I’m drawing now. This Neutral character is also one of my favorites because of its powerful buff, especially when positioned correctly in a battle.

I usually place it between the two units I want to buff.

Vernari Marksrat is a Neutral Soulbound Unit with the Martyr ability. This ability is executed when the character is defeated. What it does is increase the stats of the adjacent unit by +1 in all categories: attack, health, and speed.

It’s best to position Vernari Marksrat between your favorite units, and there’s a high chance that its ability will be executed, especially if your opponent has a unit with the Opportunity ability. Due to its low health, the enemy will likely target it first.

It’s also great to use in battles with flying and poison rulesets because its ability will almost certainly be executed.

ART STEPS

I started the art by drawing a rough sketch of the rat holding a bow with a quiver on its back.

After that, I thickened the outline, making it look somewhat angry to give it a fierce appearance despite its small size.

Once the outline was complete, I started coloring. I added a layer beneath the outline and began coloring there. I used a paintbrush for coloring to give it a somewhat faded effect.

Then, I blended different colors to add depth to my art.

For the background, I used simple shades of gray and black.

My art is finished, and I hope you like it.
