There are countermeasures in place that would prevent a powerful community from abusing the system.

Great to know that! I didn't know it! Thank you!

Would be great if people took the time to learn about these things. Would be great if they took the time to participate. See how that proposal is inching closer to being approved? That's what's possible with thousands of community members being unaware of it. Imagine what could happen if they cared.

Absolutely agree. Sometimes people are just too worried about the earnings and don't pay attention to this things at all.

Perhaps selfishness or greed is the reason. I can't say for sure so won't make accusations.

Looking out for number 1 (yourself) isn't always a bad thing, because that mindset is what's needed to get something like that proposal approved. So maybe it isn't greed or selfishness getting in the way. Perhaps it's something simpler, like the community mismanaging itself.

A decentralized environment is hard for people to understand when they're thrown into it with no experience. When it comes to society, for centuries, our own personal choices never mattered much and every time there's a problem, one simply blames those in charge and carries on.

That doesn't quite work in this setting, but that's probably a story for another day. I'm only here because I was mentioned in the post, know very little about Splinterlands, and don't mind learning or hearing what others have to say.

I'm not supporting that proposal at the moment. Just because a Ford vehicle exists, that doesn't mean it's my responsibly to support the company. The people that love Ford and drive those vehicles get to have that honor. That's how the world works. Still leads to success.

I understand. I think it's a very complicated topic, indeed. I also think this could be a problem of community mismanaging. Let's see how this will turn out.

By the way, I would love to learn more about this countermeasures. Learning this stuff is a must in a decentralized environment like this. If you could point me out to material about this topic, I would appreciate it. Thank you!

Unfortunately I've come unprepared and can't offer any material. Certainly can't sit here and outline scenarios either. I suppose the most basic tool at our disposal would be the return proposal. And it's funny because a lot of people will complain about spending, all while being in charge of how high that bar is set.

No worries, man. You pointed me in the right direction. I will read more about the return proposal. Thank you!

I removed my vote from the return proposal just now, lowering the bar and making it that much easier for everyone.

lol

People might not understand how, but I'm actually rooting for the Splinterlands community and would like to see them continue down the path of success.

I appreciate that. Splinterlands is one of my favorite games and I also hope they have success.

That proposal. For it to have my support, all I wanted to see was a concerted effort. It is slowly but surely moving in that direction it seems. I'll give it more time.

Most people forget the power of a united community, because it is easier for someone else to solve the problem.

So common there's even an idiom people can use where I come from. "Pass the buck."

That's life, I guess. So it's nothing to be angry about. Someone else can solve that problem I have other things to do. lol
