Splinterlands Share Your Battle Weekly Challenge - Radiated Brute

The Radiated Brute is a new Chaos Legion card with the Reach ability that allows it to do melee attack damage from the second position. It is a rather useful card to have in your lineup especially when you're focusing on melee attacks.

The Rules and My Lineup

Melee Mayhem - 28 Mana Cap

Melee Mayhem is one of my favorite rulesets as it opens up the possibilities of the Fire splinter and its melee attack monsters. My strategy was to overwhelm my opponent with the explosive power of some of the Fire Splinter's melee attackers while keeping them safe with Magnor's taunt ability. You can watch the battle here.

Summoner: Tarsa to boost the health and melee attack of all my monsters
Position 1: Magnor because he is an absolute beast
Position 2: Radiated Brute to do reach damage from the second position
Position 3: Furious Chicken for some buffer space
Position 4: Exploding Dwarf to do explosive damage from the back
Position 5: Spark pixies to do quick ranged damage

Was my strategy effective?

Yes, it was a pretty effective strategy although my Magnor died a lot quicker than I expected, in round 2. Still, he managed to absorb and evade a number of attacks, giving my other melee attackers and Spark Pixies to weaken my opponent.

The Radiated Brute with its high health also did well to absorb damage and kill off my opponent's Living Lava. The Exploding Dwarf also did wonderfully, killing off my opponent's Disintegrator and Serpentine Spy in one attack in the third round.

What would I do differently?

I think using Exploding Rats instead of Spark Pixies might have worked better. Although it wouldn't have been as powerful as it could be because my opponent's Disintegrator weakens its power and effectiveness.

Both are quick and have the ability to evade attacks so it is quite even between them.

Thoughts on the Radiated Brute

The Radiated Brute feels like a cheaper version of Fineas Rage. For 5 mana, it is definitely a decent card that does 2 damage which is sort of the minimum required in Silver leagues. It is slow, though.

Only at level 5 does it become decently fast although by level 4 it does 3 damage which is quite powerful especially since there is a boost which gives it 4 damage.
