Bringing Nature Back to My Backyard

avatar

One thing ive been needing to do is buy a lot of primulas, very cheap, native and bloom even in winter at times.
it's tough to say cause i can hardly know what was here before mass populations come.
given that there were snakes, hedgehogs, owls, lizards, all sorts of things. I’ve got a lot of ferns which are native, a lot of them got banged up by cats this year.

it must have been a thriving ecosystem. my thoughts it was largely grasslands, cause that's what you see on the outside of the city. and older images from a 100 years ago tell the same tale. but i dont really know if just flat grasslands can support all those animals.
anyway it'd be hard to tell unless some european explorer was passing through. cause area's been inhabited for over a thousand years so regardless it could have been leveled, whole forests mowed down. ive got goldenrods, false sunflowers, helenium, asters and anemones.planted some bareroot ones back in september last year.
i dont know what happened
but it just spread underground i guess so i have it at random places too
it was just bareroot i didnt even think it'd spring up to be honest. i've got a lot of late terracore summer bloomers
asters only beginning to bloom now
and anemones will bloom i think until mid october or something.
