My BATTLE MAGE SECRET Weekly Challenge! Super Sneak

Hello there, this is my entry to the new "Battle Mage Secret Weekly Challenge!". If you want to participate or know more about the challenge, click here. This week we have to formulate a strategy with the Super Sneak ruleset.

RULESET: Super Sneak

With the Super Sneak ruleset, all melee units gain the 'sneak' ability.

The 'Super Sneak' ruleset is very easy to understand as all the melee units receive the 'sneak' ability. It is advisable to put a few stronger units at the back of the lineup just to deal with those sneaky melee monsters. Apart from this one should focus on the fundamentals of the game only.

Let's see how this ruleset affects my lineup and how I strategies for the following battle.

My Lineup

This is my lineup for the battle

Position
Summoner/Monsters
Summoner
Keyla Frendul
Position 1
Djinn Oshannus
Position 2
Halfing Alchemist
Position 3
Torrent Fiend

This was only a 14-mana battle and only had the "Super Sneak" ability which as we saw this ruleset will give all the units 'sneak' ability.

Except for 'Fire' and 'Death' elements all were active during this battle. Since this was a very low mana cap battle. I used the Keyla Frendul as summoner because I wanted to give extra armour to all the units that I was going to use. Having extra armour with this little mana is always useful.

I placed the Djinn Oshannus as my tank in the first position. It has the 'Void' ability that is going to be effective against mages as it reduces their damage by 50%. It also came with 'phase' ability. Most of the mana was spent in it so I needed to make sure it was a worthy tank for my battle. Costing 8 mana I was only left with 2 mana now. Fortunately, it had a lot of health and dealt 2 magic damage with quick speed.

Halfing Alchemist came in the next position, it cost just 2 mana which I had left after spending most of it on my tank. It dealt 1 ranged attack damage and had 2 health only. But it came with armour that helped it last a little longer. The best part is its 'halving' ability that reduces its target's attack in half.

In the third position, I placed the Torrent Fiend which I could use only because it was a zero mana cost unit. It dealt 1 melee attack damage and can take advantage of the 'super sneak' ruleset.

Now that my lineup is set let's talk about my strategy for this game.

My Strategy

'Super Sneak' ruleset provides the advantage to melee attackers as it gives them the 'sneak' ability and we can use them in any place we like. But when you have just 14 mana to spare it gets difficult. I went with the Keyla Frendul that increased all the unit's speed by 1 and gave 1 armour to them. This extra armour is very useful in low mana cap battles like this.

I used a heavy tank at the front of the lineup and it was a vital part of my strategy. Having a strong unit that can deal a good amount of damage and have good health was my strategy all along. It was supported by the Halfing Alchemist, a low-cost ranged attacker that is super effective against heavy tanks that deal a lot of attack damage.

As you will see, this strategy worked in my favour and gave me an easy win in the end.

I will share my battle here, which I have uploaded to YouTube. Battle Link

My opponent went with heavy magic attack damage and used only one unit, Kron the Undying which costs 10 mana and they could afford that only. They used the Obsidian summoner which increased the attack damage of their tank to 4 and having heal and divine shield ability makes it a great unit.

My Halfing Alchemist reduced its attack damage by half and it was a game changer for me. Their tank only had 2 attack damage and my Djinn Oshannus had 'void' and 'phase' abilities and because of that, it dodged most of the attacks.

The battle went on for 9 rounds as the 'heal' ability on Kron the Undying made it heal back to almost full health but its heath kept reducing one hp at a time.

Conclusion

Super Sneak ruleset is a straightforward ruleset that surely gives an advantage to melee attackers and one must take extra precaution and add protection to the end of the lineup as sneaky monsters will attack from the back of the lineup.

So, there can be many strategies in this ruleset and that's what makes this ruleset an interesting one.

But the most important thing is to not forget the fundamentals of the game, having a tough tank at the front is still a good strategy and if you can support it with some heal and other units, that is a good bonus.

Let me know what your strategy is with this ruleset.
