Splinterlands Lore - Astral Entity Meets Someone Special

It's a new edition of Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge and the theme this week is a very special one! It's Explore and Expand Splinterlands Lore!

Having done Freewriting and storytelling some time ago on Hive, I thought this is an interesting challenge. The character I am going to write about today is one of my favourite summoners, Astral Entity!

First, let's go through the official Lore of Astral Entity, which to me is quite interesting and mysterious character.

From the shadows and the ether comes an eldritch entity known only as the Astral Entity. It is a celestial being that drifts through rifts in reality, searching for new planes and realms. There are almost no recordings of the Astral Entity in the athenaeums of the Splinterlands, but if one was to search through forgotten scrolls in the cobwebbed corners of ancient libraries, one would find the briefest mentions of this being. Snippets from across the centuries mention a humanoid shape made of cosmic energy. No one knows where it came from or what it wants, but it has only been recorded doing one thing: observing.

In spite of this, death always seems to follow the Astral Entity's arrival. Clans and nations go to war. Crops wither, livestock become ill or infertile, and famine ravages the land. Droughts, plagues of locusts, and violent storms bring empires to their knees. And when it's over, the Astral Entity vanishes without a trace.

When the Chaos Legion invaded the Splinterlands, the rift they opened echoed across realities. This drew the attention of the Astral Entity. It was able to slip through the rift undetected and explore this new world.

It witnessed a world rich in mana, with diverse people and dramatic landscapes. It also witnessed a world crushed by the grip of the powerful Chaos Legion and their leader, Silus of the Rift. The Astral Entity observed the battles, the people suffering, and all the death, but it did nothing to intervene. What it did do was learn. It learned the strengths and weaknesses of not only the Splinterlands, but of the Chaos Legion, as well.

The time may come when the Astral Entity chooses a side. Whatever choice it makes will be purely for its own gain and based on all it has learned from its eons of passing through the rifts.

With this background in mind, I shall try to expand the character of Astral Entity with my own interpretation:

A few years ago, one young boy caught sight of a mysterious figure drifting through the plains and observing the battles once more. He had read about the legends and knew that this was the Astral Entity. People have always told him that Astral Entity had secret powers and he knew this day was his best opportunity.

Mustering his courage, the boy ran forward and came face to face with the Astral Entity. The Astral Entity stared at the little boy, but did not a say a word. All these years, no one had dared to come close to him because people fear death, but this boy was special.

"Who are you and where do you come from?"

The young boy's voice broke the silence as the Astral Entity continued to stare at him. He wanted to ask what the boy wanted from him, but he could not speak. Many years ago, he suffered a curse and if he were to say a word to anyone, he would lose his powers.

"I know you have secret powers. Show me!"

The young boy continued to shout at him as he continued to stare at him. He had a feeling that this boy was not an ordinary person. He analysed the boy from top to toe, and he saw magic and a sense of darkness and evilness in his eyes. He figured out that this boy would grow up to be a skillful summoner of the dark arts, and he shuddered at that thought. Would he be surpassed by this boy in the future?

As he wondered, he heard shouts of the boy's parents calling out for their son. He figured out it's time for him to leave. As he drifted away, he faintly heard the one of them say, "Thaddius, where have you been the whole day?"
