Chaos Legion End Of Set FOMO
As of today (12/23/2022) there is roughly just 3.15 Million Chaos Legion Packs left. You might be a little puzzled as to why I use the word "just". Some of you are new(ish) to Splinterlands so you might not of experienced the end of set FOMO that happens to each set as it nears sell out (Alpha/Beta/Untamed: End of set FOMO happened to all of them). Usually when packs dwindle down to their last percentage of being in print FOMO kicks in hard and packs start flying off the virtual Splinterland shelf. When does this happen? If I had to guess I would be comfortable with saying it happens around the time there is about 10% of packs left for sale. With some editions with smaller overall pack circulations experiencing the FOMO sooner which begs to differ that larger sets might experience that same FOMO a little later (print percentage wise).
Chaos Legion is our biggest (largest amount of packs created) set to date. This means that Set Ending FOMO will likely hit slightly later (print percentage wise) but not much later and here is why. Chaos Legion Packs are getting burned at the rate and speed of 25,000 Packs daily. This means there will be a healthy decline of packs each day. That is 250,000 packs burned every ten days. 750,000* packs burned monthly. These 3.15* remaining Chaos Legion Packs are not going to last long. More and more are being added to the fire each day thus shrinking the total supply. Its only a matter of time before there is no more Chaos Legion Booster Packs left for sale on the official Splinterlands site and everyone is scratching their head wondering why they didn't buy more to round out their collection or to resell for profits.
With so little packs left it won't be long before we unlock the remaining airdrops. In total we had 14 drops. Some have come and gone but we do have three left to be unlocked. The next one to be unlocked needs just 146,194 more packs to be sold*. That means that Splinterlands will be given us yet another airdrop in just some days time. Who will be included in this airdrop? Everyone who has purchased at least one Chaos Legion Booster Pack from the official Splinterlands shop will be included. If you are interested in receiving at least one guaranteed card you will need to have purchased at least 625 Chaos Legion Packs. That doesn't mean you are out of luck if you purchased less. However the less packs you have purchased under the 625 threshold the less likely you will be airdropped one of these upcoming cards.
There are a total of 14 special Airdrop characters that will be unlocked throughout the Chaos Legion sales event. Only after a character is unlocked can it be obtained via card packs. For every one million Chaos Legion packs sold another character is unlocked. When a character is unlocked all players who have previously purchased a Chaos Legion pack from Splinterlands official Shop page will receive a random distribution of the new character.
Buying more packs will increase your chance of obtaining cards from the Airdrop. There is no guarantee that buying packs will result in receiving bonus cards. However buying more as early as possible will increase the number of opportunities to be rewarded (airdrop cards).

Thanks for the curation.

FOMO is rare in the bear market so fingers crossed it will spill over to Hive as well :)
Its a unique set with allot of packs and a burn. Toss in the end of year sale and general bear market and it certainly is going to be tougher to induce that end of set FOMO. Each set before experience it. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the upcoming weeks with Chaos.

I don't think there was much FOMO after the start/pre-sale because of the burning of packs. Do we have any news about the new set or do they plan on letting the game sit without packs for a while?

To the best of my knowledge there will be a few months break between sets. I think they are aiming for 3 months with no packs for sale.
