Playing a Little Splinterlands Again....
So I've been dabbling with playing a little Splinterlands again over the last few days, and I've been enjoying myself.
My rentals from SPS and cards have been going down and so it's got to that point where I thought 'may as well play'...
So I unrented some of my better Modern cards and didn't delegate out all my SPS and here we are...
I don't play very much in one go, rarely more than 4-5 battles in one sitting, but I've found it quite a nice way to switch off and well, just enjoy myself really.
I mean OK I am down in bronze III ATM and my experience is mainly bullying my way to victories with a handful of maxed Chaos summoners and a few L3 or maxed legendaries and some of the better epics, rares and commons, but that's fun, right...?
I do see some other maxed out summoners too, I mean they are cheap to rent so that makes sense.
So to some observations...
Real Player feeling...
It feels like I'm playing real people. I know there are few SL bots out there to match-make, but overall I FEEL like I'm up against actual opponents.
I'm sure people have mentioned this in the past by maybe an in-match chat would be nice, or perhaps that'd give away the fact that I am actually playing different level bots most of the time.
But whatever, there are variety of teams being fielded with a mix of cards, so it feels 'real'!
The rewards are pretty good, even down here...
I mean the SPS per battle is only around 0.3 or something around there, so that's not great, but the GLINT is nice, more than 100 per battle, means 1 common reward card per battle, near enough. Or if I play 350 battles, that's a legendary, and one gets more glint at the end of the season as I understand it!
But those chests in the glint shop are a terrible option. I opted for one and got 6 Alchemy potions, precisely the cursed chalices I am trying to get rid of!
Players RELY TOO MUCH ON GLADIATOR CARDS!
Down here I haven't lost a battle against someone relying on a gladiator card. The pattern is that the Gladiator never makes a kill and so doesn't benefit from Bloodlust....
Case in point...
Start
End
Note I played the ruleset and got FOUR tramples in a row at the end of round two, NICE!
What cards to buy next...?
I don't have many RW cards, I will maybe rent, but no more than a couple of K DEC a season, it's false economy. Better to buy!
I figure I need to target some of the BETTER cards, and these are likely to be legendary or epics.
Starting with the neutrals, always the more useful...
- Moxian Rebel is no.1 on my list.
- Venka I think is no.2 but obviously pricey.
- I quite like the Overseer as well, in high mana battles you can shove another insane tank right behind, ironic that he's LARGE and grants reach. You would have thought that be more fitting for a smaller character, but there you go, I don't think SL sells itself on realism!
I've got some DEC good to go for this too...
I may not have played for a while, but I know a low mana game changer when I see one! $30 seems llke the price for the better promo neutrals, and this i think is better than anything currently for sale, and 50K DEC per card is around.... $30!
Hard to lose out on this one....

Playing in modern almost without any RB, prices are insane so all the cards I use are at base level or near it; still, able to battle in high Gold easily. Pretty sure prices will go down as conflits end, I can imagine there are a ton of packs in wagons nowadays.
That's the strategy wait and prices generally go down!
