Splinterlands Battle Mage Secrets: Maneuvers!

This week's Battle Mage rule set challenge was Maneuvers in which every monster gains the reach ability.

Reach only applies to Melee Monsters, and with it a second placed monster gains an attack!

Maneuvers general strategy....

This is one of those where you don't need to deviate too much from your usual strategy, but it does make playing quality melee monsters in second position more viable, as they are not wasted!

Maybe even in third position......

It really comes into its own when combined with a melee only attack line up!

Maneuvers battle exemplar

The battle below shows a battle featuring the Life Splinter with Illian overcoming the usual glad strategy, yawn!

Mana and rulesets:

  • 17 mana
  • REACH only

Summoner - Ilian - for the speed!

  1. Zenith Monk - one of the best low mana tanks
  2. Gargoya Scrapper - worth playing with reach!
  3. Soul Fiend - 0 mana add on
  4. Celestial Harpy - Opportunity!
  5. Venari Crystalsmith - healer!
  6. Zenith Archer - decent back row low mana ranged!

The battle...

  • round 1 - I take out the mycllic morphid and Fiend in this round.
  • round 2 - I take out the Glad, with REACH attack finishing her off!

It's all over!

Final battle analysis

A classic example of a lazy player losing by relying too heavily on one card.

REACH final thoughts...

It's certainly worth considering an extra melee monster in P2!
