Splinterlands Community Challenge: Eleanor Bravefoot!

This week's Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: was to showcase New Promo Card Battles.

I recently purchased THREE Eleanor Bravefoots from the Promo shop, these are the first new cards I have bought in a long time, I just cleared out some DEC-SPS I had sitting in a pool thinking 0 mana cards are always gonna come in handy in those low, low mana battles!

And my findings are that the battle simply HAS to be low mana for using Eleanor, otherwise you are just gonna get caned!

The card....

Blasphemy of Uul - interesting in that you can gain damage points by playing the fiend cards, but you get nerfed by running the risk of being exhausted in each round, and not firing - 10% chance in round one, increasing by 10% up to 80% chance.

Exhaustion can be a pain in the arse. Basically after just 7 rounds there's an 80% chance of her not firing, and it's 50% after 4 rounds, so realistically you don't want to be playing this in battles you expect to longer than say 5 rounds, because she's much less useful when not dealing damage, obviously!

I think you really have take her up to Level 2 for starters, all you get at level one is a nerf!

At level 4 she becomes a little more useful with 2 damage and strengthen, especially good in those low mana battles which is where you mainly want to be deploying her!

RULESET...

  • 27 mana
  • ranged in first, fog of war

Summoner Kayla because of the shields and speed.

  1. Zenith Monk - awesome low mana tank
  2. Torrent Fiend - plus one to Eleanor
  3. Eleanor - shielded in the middle
  4. Mershalli Guardian - Tank heal and repair
  5. Dr Blight - a must play!
  6. Runemancer Kye - love that life leach strategy!

The Battle...

  • round 1 - I take out the Scorch Fiend, Ellie misses, nice one!
  • round 2 - I take out the Ants, mainly with magic, Ellie hits shields
  • round 3 - my monk dies, but i take out the Speedrunner, Ellie misses again
  • round 4 - I take out the Djin, Ellie misses again
  • round 5 - it's all over, I win, 5/6.

In this particular battle Eleanor did very little, my main damage doers were Dr Blight and Kye. And my defensive repair helped a lot too keeping the monk alive.

It didn't help Ellie's case that she was nerfed by my opponent's summoner.

So sorry to say that Eleanor isn't that much use in even mid-mana battles, but at least using her didn't result in me losing which happened here:

All of these are high mana battles!

Final Thoughts.... Best way to make use of Eleanor....

Well as a minimum use case you simply MUST combine it with a fiend card to get the PLUS 1 to attack.

But just imagine combining this with a dual splinter plus one to ranged summoner (if they exist...?) That'd be an additional 4 attack points, giving Eleanor 5 damage points for 0 mana, albeit with your needing to field TWO fiends to get this level of bonus...

NB there may of course be other cards called FIEND down the line, that aren't 0 mana!

POSTSCRIPT: I did have a few successful low mana outings with her, but for the last two days I've just had nothing but HIGH MANA battles, and she's useless in those! Honestly, 27 was the lowest in around 30 battles!

I need to pick up an Elanor bravefoot. It being zero mana seems like it has some good use cases. I'll be having to get one off the secondary market now as I left it too late
