A Close Victory Amid Extreme Ruleset Limits! | Splinterlands Social Media Challenge!

Hello, Splinterlands Warriors! How’s the season treating you as we approach the new feature – Splinterlands’ card auction?

Oh, and today, I want to share an interesting experience I had when facing a unique ruleset in Splinterlands. This one’s perfect for my weekly Splinterlands challenge content!

Can you imagine being thrown into a battle with the combined rulesets Back to Basics, Little League Only, and Going the Distance? It’s like being tested for survival skills with a limited selection! These rules make us choose “the best of the simplest” and really challenge our creativity in forming strategies.

At first, I considered relying on the Earth element, but I realized that the Fire element seemed more flexible in this setup. The main reason? There are plenty of Fire monsters with solid attacks and a mana cost under 5. With all monster abilities stripped away, I focused on a lineup attack strategy, keeping a strong backup of ranged attacks from the rear.

Here’s my lineup:

  • XENITH ARCHER
  • FLAME MEPHIT
  • PYREWATCH DEVIL
  • LAVA SPIDER
  • SCAVO FIREBOLT
  • KHA'ZI CONJURER

The opponent’s lineup was pretty similar:

  • CHAOS LACKEY
  • SCAVO FIREBOLT
  • PYREWATCH DEVIL
  • LAVA SPIDER
  • KHA'ZI CONJURER

The difference? I had one extra monster compared to the opponent! And the most interesting choice was probably KHA'ZI CONJURER. In a normal setup, this monster has a skill that could harm my own team. But in the Back to Basics ruleset, that harmful effect is neutralized, allowing me to use it without worry.

In the first round, the battle began with attacks focused on the front monster. Since this was a Back to Basics setup, it was all simplified – no extra skills, just straightforward front-line attacks. The battle really came down to who could strike first. Each monster took turns attacking, and with my additional monster, I managed to hold a small but crucial advantage.

As my opponent started losing front monsters, I gradually pulled ahead due to my extra unit. The climax was when I managed to keep one archer at the back as the final monster standing. That moment of victory was incredibly satisfying, especially since it was a close call and only one monster made the difference.

It was such a thrill to win a battle that relied purely on monster placement strategy, rather than just abilities or elemental strength.

Reflection and Lessons from This Battle

After this experience, I took away some valuable insights. First, even though it’s tempting to pick our favorite element or monsters, it’s essential to consider the specific ruleset and effects that can influence the outcome. It turns out that the number of monsters can make all the difference in scenarios like this, especially when both attacks and placements are limited.

The second lesson is to always stay adaptable. When things seem restrictive, sometimes a simple monster like KHA'ZI CONJURER can bring you the win – if you use it right.

So, fellow Splinterlands warriors, never hesitate to try something new or experiment with unusual monsters! Often, victory comes from a different tactic, not just raw power – and maybe a little luck, too.
