Will DEC soon hit its 1 USD soft-peg value? I am bullish about DEC!
It’s been a while since I posted last time about Splinterlands. In this post, I would like to share my thoughts about the current situation of Dark Energy Crystal tokens and why I think the demand for DEC will skyrocket very soon. Pegged to Splinterlands-related products, DEC's soft-peg value is meant to be 1 USD. Although the value has been below the 1 USD mark for a long time, it's now inching closer to its target. Let’s explore why I believe DEC will soon hit its soft-peg 1 USD value.
Current State of DEC Mintage:
At present, there are approximately 5.1 billion DEC in circulation (according to Splintercatds.com). With nearly 2 billion DEC tokens locked in various liquidity pools, the effective amount of circulating DEC is around 3 billion. This circulation slowly but continuously decreases, due to plenty of active DEC burning mechanisms, Splintercards.com gives a great overview of how the circulation changed in the last 30 days:
Reasons Why DEC Should Hit Its Soft-Peg Value of 1 USD:
Numerous DEC sinks launched recently:
Recent launches, such as Runi, land surveying, and DEC-B sales, have removed over 1 billion liquid DEC from the market. This reduction in liquid supply helps push the value closer to the 1 USD peg.Limited new DEC issuance:
New DEC is now primarily issued through season leadership rewards, SPS burning, or card burning (which is no longer a significant factor due to the low DEC value). This limitation further restricts the available supply and was a game changer to the previous state of the art where DEC was minted through the ranked battle rewards.Upcoming DEC sinks/utilities:
Promo cards, DEC staking on land, and new guild features are on the horizon. DEC staking on land, in particular, will be a massive utility. Right now, over 118k land deeds have been surveyed. With the land 1.5 release, each of these land plots can stake up to 5 cards. To stake a maximum BCX card, it will be required to stake 10K DEC first. This mechanism creates a huge new DEC utility, with the potential for more than 6 billion DEC to be staked on the surveyed lands. In my opinion, this is a strong incentive and argument to accumulate DEC now, as burning SPS may soon be necessary to acquire enough DEC for the land staking utility.New rental features for land:
Land rental features will require a significant amount of DEC, as there is now a 1 DEC fee for listing an item on the market and rentals are paid by either DEC or credits. Entire new cards staking utility on land hopefully will warm up the rental market again and will drive up the value of DEC.Signs of a recovering crypto market:
Although the crypto market is not yet at its peak, there are indications that the "crypto winter" is ending. The Federal Reserve's pause in interest rate hikes, slowing inflation, and rising major cryptocurrencies signal that the market may soon turn bullish. This shift will create a favorable environment for DEC to reach its soft-peg value.
Long story short, my conclusion is: accumulate DEC now, while it's still cheap and accessible! Given the factors discussed above, it's clear that the conditions are ripe for DEC to hit its soft-peg 1 USD value soon. By accumulating DEC now, you'll be ahead of the curve and poised to reap the rewards when the value reaches its target.
