Introduction

The wild pass has been out for a few weeks now and I want to dive my thoughts on this. Just to be transparent, I have bought a wild pass for my own account. I still play manually on my scholar account though. I also want to discuss a bit about the most recent townhall.

Wild Pass

Wild pass has been a huge game changer. A lot of bot farms aka extractors have liquidated and sold off everything so I'm guessing now most of the players here are actually here for the long-run I hope. Old players will probably just move to wild once CL cycles out. I think only those that can afford to keep buying new sets will stay in modern if not it would be just cheaper to get a wild pass instead of buy up a new set and get that to gold or diamond league.

In the end though, I think it's still an ROI game. If bots / people can still profit they will buy the pass and play. I feel adding the pass is a bit of a band-aid and it just makes the profit less and gives less incentive to have multiple accounts. As long as one account can make money though, I don't see why a bot farm would stop but I guess the bot farms could be watching out to observe. This is my prediction but they will probably come back and you heard it here. If one account can't make money, then it's sad to say but they would really just have to purely love the game which is very rare for anybody in web3 to not want to make their money back and more.

Recent Town Hall on 20th June

Honestly, hearing the townhall does give some hope but in the end it's all about execution. Splinterlands is looking for an investor that shares the same vision and they admit they didn't get the right investors before. I think many projects have done this with KOLS and early investors or who just wanted to make fast ROI which is the crypto mindset in my opinion. The get rich fast mindset which doesn't fit with web3 gaming as it needs to be long-term and sustainable if the game wants to last.

I'm also glad Matt said there would be a lot more resources into new player experience. We really need new players. I'm starting to see less frays being filled in other guilds or they are just being filled by alts. Even the Splinterlands chat is just the same people. I would love to see some freshness and people excited when they first get to know about splinterlands like I did when I was new.

Soulkeep launching soon was nice news as well. If everything goes well, it could also bring more eyes on Splinterlands. I'm hoping this soulkeep game is multi-chain and not just on Hive.

Anyways I genuinely feel Splinterlands is at it's lowest point. I don't think it can get far worse than what it is now. Just gotta look towards the future and hope for the best. I think the team can pull it off as long as they keep at it.
