Siri - The witch of the wild (A character inspired from Dark Enchantress) for Splinterlands Art Contest
Splinterlands Art Contest
So this week I'm gonna share the last Original character I made for this contest. I already mentioned in my previous blogs that I draw and keep some in a queue just in case something happens unexpectedly in real life. I don't keep any more in my drawing software because of some reasons. I think this month I'll probably be busy but let's hope that's not the case. The other reason is that when I look at my old paintings, it feels outdated so I decided to keep only one or two in a queue for the time being and with that being said let's begin!
Siri - The witch of the wild
Character Information
Siri is the witch of the wild, a summoner based on earth splinter. She was an orphan left in the jungle who was later found by the sisterhood of witches living in the forest. As she grew up she showed a natural talent for witchcraft. She lives in the wild in harmony with other species because of her ability to understand and communicate with plants and animals.
She is considered as a master of herbalism and potion-making. Her ability to communicate with the most dangerous animals in the wild makes her one of the toughest witches to beat. She can command and control an army of wild animals during battle which makes her one of the most powerful offensive cards in the game.
Since she is an earth-based splinter, she is weakened by fire elemental cards. Other than that when there is an imbalance in nature she is more vulnerable to all sorts of attacks from her enemies. Her herbalism skills have also a limited duration.
This character is inspired from Dark Enchantress . The idea was to create a positive version of her based on a different splinter.
The Process
I had some trouble finishing this painting XD. My phone was lagging a lot so I had to factory reset it but my dumbass forgot to save the WIP as a transparent png so I had to draw over it and erase a lot of things to make it look like what you see now. I discovered a new way to paint pupils while drawing the river Nymph artwork so I applied that technique on top of the old design. I have to say the overlapping strokes on her pupil does gives an aesthetic feel to her eyes plus I used primary colours such as Red, Green and Blue here to make this painting. The contrast between these three colours is very interesting. I wanted to apply this to one of my paintings for a long time so I'm happy that I was able to do that in this one.
The leafy background was a spontaneous decision. I think it looks good with the background. I had to improvise certain areas near her hands since this pose required it. There must be a place to rest the hands, right? So I made a green wall-like structure behind her to satisfy the overall look. Oh, I totally forgot to say that I gave her a friend as well. You can see the spirit of the forest in a bird form resting on her hat hehe.
Tools used
- Ibis paint X
- Notebook and pencil
Duration: 10hrs
Thank you so much for your time :)

Thanks for the upvote 🤩🤩🤩.
Your art is so cute, I love this version, good luck in the contest!!
Thanks and goodluck to you as well. Are you not participating this week?
Yes! I just uploaded my entry, just four minutes before the deadline, it was crazy!😆
Heyy you finally finished this one. I was pretty sure you trashed her tho 🤣
Lols you still remember this huh. The plan was about to trash it because the green was too dark but I found a fix by increasing the brightness of every individual green colored layer. It worked so here it is haha.
Ohhh so now it's kind of emerald green and I love that soft glow you're working on her too. That added to her overall soft look
Thank goodness it worked. I spend too much time experimenting on this one xd.
Brilliant colors! I love the eyes.
Primary colour combos never fail hehe. The eye design is something I discovered recently. Thanks for noticing bro :)
Oo oh love the story of Siri! 😍
Really a bummer when you forgot to set the WIP on transparent, etc., then starting again. Ugh, I feel you! 😩
Along the way, I also discover new techniques and tools to make drawing easier. 🤣😌
But over all, I like the color combination! 😍
Thanks Jiji.
It's annoying when you forget to save it as transparent png. It's a lot of work to draw over it lolz. I had plans to ditch it as well because the initial coloring was way too darker.
RGB combo never fails hehe. Have you seen konosuba anime? The characters colour pallette is based on RGB hehe.
A cute anime! I like the drawing style and of course the colors! Thanks for sharing this!
Thanks Jiji. About the card design contest, Did you start working on it? I heard you are collaborating with someone.
Yea, I just published it now haha!
What lol. Let me check then XD. I wasn't expecting it to be this fast lol.
We were like brainstorming for 4 days I think haha. I gave up 🤣
Yeah I was like that too then today I just started it and eventually I finalised a design after 4hrs haha. My design is very simple. You'll see it soon hehe.
I like the way you change the hair, good thing you did that. I like the red hair more. And the background perfect :D highlights made it more better!!!
Yeah white hair sucked XD.The lighting on the edge is called rim lighting. It's really useful when the painting has a dark tone.
Thanks Leann ☺️.
Hehehehe sometimes. But sometimes good maybe? Hahaha.
Yeah that's true.
You're welcome :)))
