Splinterlands Voucher System Overhaul

Add a heading.png

As a result of the proposal passed by the community, we're excited to announce some in-game changes that will streamline your experience, reduce the complexity of the Splinterlands ecosystem, and make it easier for new users to dive in. Read on for a detailed overview of what we're cooking up. we'll do our best to meet these dates, but as always, they're subject to change.

Voucher Consolidation and Liquidity Updates

On August 15th, we'll implement the following changes to simplify Vouchers and rework their liquidity pools:

  • Voucher rewards (i.e., Validator and SPS staking) will be airdropped in-game rather than to the SPS Chain, eliminating the need to transfer them in-game before using them; this effectively combines VOUCHER-G (in-game) and VOUCHER (SPS Chain) token into a single in-game VOUCHER token.
  • Rewards for the Voucher/SPS Hive-Engine liquidity pool will be discontinued.
  • Vouchers may be transferred from decentralized exchanges (e.g., Hive Engine, Tribaldex, etc.) to Splinterlands, but they cannot be transferred from Splinterlands to decentralized exchanges; in other words, they can be transferred in but not out.

Removing the ability to trade Vouchers on decentralized exchanges allows us to create an in-game liquidity pool for Vouchers while still meeting regulatory requirements for not operating an exchange.

End of Voucher-Based Discounts

To eliminate Voucher-based discounts and drive utility to Dark Energy Crystals (DEC), we're making the following changes:

  • August 15th: end of Voucher-based discounts for Validator licenses.
  • August 31st: Wild Passes and Mage Wagons no longer purchasable with Vouchers.
  • September 3rd: end of Voucher-based discounts for Rebellion booster packs; energy no longer purchasable with Vouchers.

Note that, on September 3rd, the price for Rebellion booster packs will also be reduced to 4,000 DEC or Credits.

Voucher Liquidity Pool, Store, & Tax

On September 3rd, we'll implement additional changes to refine the Voucher system, making them easier to acquire and increasing their utility:

  • An in-game DEC/Voucher liquidity pool will be added to allow players to obtain Vouchers in-game without using a decentralized exchange.
  • The Voucher Store will be launched, and a brand new card will be available for purchase with Vouchers.
  • Voucher transfers between players will be subject to a 12.5% burn tax.

Also on September 3rd, we're removing the Splinterstorm Skin Shop. If you still have a hankering to get them, do it now before they're gone forever!

These changes reflect the proposal passed by the community and are designed to reduce the complexity of Splinterlands' tokenomics and improve the overall player experience. We appreciate your feedback, understanding, and support as we strive to evolve Splinterlands to meet your vision for the future.

Stay tuned for more exciting developments to come!

What about VOUCHER for Conflict claims GF chance? Will those still need VOUCHER?

Not changing, as there's only 2 Conflicts left after this change, and they currently ONLY take Vouchers (not other currencies).

what happens to our SPS and Vouchers that we have locked up in the liquidity pool? Are they returned back to our account or do we need to withdraw from the pool before it is closed?

It's still in the Liquidity pool and you don't receive any reward from LP anyore.
So it's your decision to withdraw it or let it there forever :)

The SPS rewards are ending, but the pool itself is controlled by Hive-Engine. It will likely still exists, though I expect most people will be pulling their liquidity.

Love this! The in-game voucher pool is a great idea and I look forward to pricing info for the promo cards so I can get a better understanding of my voucher needs going forward.
