SplinterRents Launches Winner Winner Chicken Dinner (WWCD)

Hi Everyone!

We are very excited to announce the launch of Winner Winner Chicken Dinner (WWCD)!
WWCD is the name of our new raffle game.
The goal of this game is to create a fun activity in our SplinterRents community while contributing to the Splinterlands ecosystem.

How does this work?

In short: You can buy tickets (1 ticket = 1 DEC) to be able to win a daily prize draw and potentially a jackpot.

With the SplinterRents team, we have created the account: wwcd.
We're using the SplinterRents bot to rent out its cards. The revenue wwcd generates is put into the prize pool for daily prize draws and jackpot prizes.
Everyday wwcd pays 5% fee for the use of the SplinterRents bot, like anyone else.
From the remaining revenue, the listing fees are deducted to get to the net revenue.
From the net revenue, 80% goes towards the daily prize pool and 20% goes to the jackpot prize pool.

Besides revenue from wwcd, there is also revenue from tickets that are being bought by players like yourself.
100% of ticket sales revenue, capped at the daily revenue of wwcd, is used to buy new cards for wwcd. This helps us to grow the account, and therefore the daily prize pool.

What happens when ticket sales exceeds wwcd's daily revenue?

We are referring here to used tickets being the amount of tickets purchased for a specific day. Since you can buy tickets for multiple days, we want to make clear that the revenue counts for when the tickets are used, and not for the day the DEC is transferred.

If (used tickets today - wwcd revenue) is bigger than 0, there are more tickets bought than there is revenue generated by wwcd.
In this case, all the additional revenue will be split in the following way:

  • 50% of the additional revenue will be used to buy extra cards for wwcd to grow the account
  • 25% will be added to todays daily prize draw
  • 25% will be added to the jackpot prize pool.

2 examples of the prize pool calculation

Let's go through 2 examples together, assuming in both cases we start with a daily prize pool of 0 and a jackpot prize pool of 0.

Example 1: There are 500 used tickets today (so 500 DEC) and there is 1000 DEC revenue & 25 lisitng fee from wwcd.

  • Wwcd will pay 5% (50 DEC) for the use of SplinterRents
  • Wwcd has already paid 25 DEC listing fee to Splinterlands
  • Wwcd will add 80% of the net revenue to the daily prize pool (925*0.8 = 740 DEC)
  • Wwcd will add 20% of the net revenue to the jackpot prize pool (925*0.2 = 185 DEC)

The used tickets for today are lower than wwcd's revenue:

  • 100% of the ticket revenue (500 DEC) will be used to buy additional cards for wwcd.

For the upcoming draw, the daily prize pool will be 740 DEC and the jackpot prize pool will be 185 DEC.
Besides that, there is 500 dec that will be used to buy new cards for wwcd.

Example 2: There are 1500 used tickets today (so 1500 DEC) and there is 1000 DEC revenue & 25 listing fee from wwcd.

The used tickets for today are higher than wwcd's revenue:

  • 1000 DEC (matching the revenue from WWCD) will be used to buy additional cards
  • 50% of the additional revenue (500*0.5 = 250) will be used to buy additional cards
  • 25% of the additional revenue (500*0.25 = 125) will be added to the daily prize pool
  • 25% of the additional revenue (500*0.25 = 125) will be added to the jackpot prize pool

For the upcoming draw, the daily prize pool will be (740+125 =) 865 DEC and the jackpot prize pool will be (185+125 = ) 310 DEC.
Besided that, there is 1250 dec that will be used to buy new cards for wwcd.

How does the jackpot work?

As mentioned before there is a separate prize pool for the jackpot, of which the amount is shared daily. Everyday there is a chance that on top of the daily draw, there will also be a jackpot draw.
The jackpot winners can be different winners from the daily draw and only players with used tickets on the day that the jackpot is drawn, are elegible.

How many people will win, and how much will they win?

For both the daily draw as well as the jackpot, there are 3 winners.
The first place will get 80% of the prize pool.
The second place will get 15% of the prize pool.
The third place will get 5% of the prize pool.

For now, if there are 2 or less accounts with tickets, the prizes that are not given out will stay in the wwcd account and it will be decided later what will happen with that DEC. However, we don't expect that this will happen.

When are the draws and when do I buy tickets to join that draw?

Everyday at 12 PM (noon) UTC, there will be a draw and winners will be announced.
All tickets that are bought within 36-12 hours before the draw are eligble as well as any tickets bought more than 36 hours ago but for multiple days.

To clarify, the cut-off time is 12 AM (midnight) to join the draw the next day 12 PM (noon).

No DEC from tickets bought goes to the SplinterRents devs, so why are you doing this?

We have always put out community before making hefty profits and this is not going to change.
No DEC from bought tickets will go to the devs, nor are we planning on selling the cards of WWCD in the near future. The only cut we take is the normal 5% revenue fee from the SplinterRents bot. Our main goal with WWCD is creating more engagement with our community while investing in the Splinterlands ecosystem.

What now?

We launch WWCD without being certain about all the percentages. We mainly want to see if you and the SplinterRents community in general likes this iniative.
We would love to hear your feedback on WWCD in general, the messaging, the prize pool split and all other topics related to WWCD.
If this iniative is well received, we are ready to buy more cards and optimize the cards and levels already on the wwcd account, which will automatically increase the daily prize pool as well as the jackpot prize pool.

In conclusion, we would all like to invite you to our website to buy some tickets.
Tickets can be bought in advance for up to 14 days. For now, up to 1000 tickets a day can be bought.

Please reach out to any of the SplinterRents teammembers for help or feedback!

Looking forward to grow wwcd together with you!

This is definitely a fun and creative way to engage the SplinterRents community. Personally, I'm not much of a gambler so I will likely stay away from lotto raffles and such, but I know plenty of people who do like effort like this, so I wish you much success with this initiative!
