Wild Format Progress

I mentioned in my previous post that I've tried out the wild format for this season. And so far, my win rate has been way higher than what I usually experience during my ranked battles in modern.

And with just my 150 DEC rental, I now managed to reach Diamond II with ease. I'm pretty sure the rewards I'm getting here is incomparable to its modern format counterpart but it's still worth it considering the Glint and SPS I get from it.

I typically get around 180 Glint and 0.6 SPS per win. But it easily gets to 200 Glint and 1 SPS whenever I get a win streak. And even this high in the league, I still encounter players or bots with just level 1 cards.

Meanwhile, the new rarity draw selection in the Glint shop is very useful for me. I still have not maxed out any of my soulbound reward cards and with the new option, I can target specific rarities to acquire. I plan to max out the summoners first so I can bring out higher level cards.

Battlemage Secrets

This week's Battlemage Secrets revolve around the rule set Going the Distance. It basically restricts all other monster selections except those with ranged attacks. By default, I usually just pick Ilthain as my summoner for her ability to give Return Fire to all monsters.

And since I only rented out four cards for the Wild format, I chose Chanseus the Great instead. The match is a 43-mana battle with Going the Distance, Born Again, and Explosive Weaponry. You can check out the full battle here.

The top monster for me in this game would be Drybone Raider. This card is versatile as it has both ranged and melee attacks while also having the Double Strike ability. Being able to attack twice takes advantage of the Blast ability being granted to all units. The opponent doubled down on its ranged offensive by increasing the damage with General Sloan.

The first order of business was to trigger the Martyr abilities since both of us placed Venari Marksrats in front of the lineup. I managed to get three triggers of Martyr since Chanseus also has his own Resurrect ability. I'm just wondering why the opponent placed War Pegasus behind the Venari Marksrat instead of the Gargoya Devil who actually has Close Range.

My question was answered a few moments later when three attacks from my team missed War Pegasus. The combination of 7 speed and Flying was truly formidable. I thought I was going to lose this battle when I saw it unfold.

I managed to get rid of the War Pegasus but my Drybone Raider suffered its first death while Prismologist was completely out of the game.

But thanks to the armor repair from Chanseus, Drybone Raider managed to stay in the game and was able to finish off the enemy monsters one by one. The game was won in round four.
