One of the most common rule sets I encounter during ranked play is Melee Mayhem. This game mechanics allows melee monsters to attack from any position. This opens up many possibilities especially since many melee monsters have interesting abilities that were limited by their short-range attacks.

The tactic that I'm highlighting for this week's battlemage secrets revolves around Jared Scar.

Jared is easily one of my favorite cards in Splinterlands. Given the right situations, he can be an unstoppable killing machine with the combination of True Strike, Piercing, and Bloodlust. There's also a few weaknesses like the slowness to attack and he is not ideal for the first position of the lineup. Melee Mayhem is one of the few rule sets that allow Jared Scar to showcase his destructive potential.

Shared Battle
The highlighted battle is a 17-mana Diamond league match with Melee Mayhem, Equalizer and Tis but Scratches rule sets. You can check the full battle link here.

This match has a very tight mana allocation so I had to work with low-cost monsters. I used Pelacor Conjurer as tank while Jared Scar is in the second position. In order to increase the chances of a Bloodlust activation, I added Time Mage as support to remove enemy armor. I also had Soul Fiend as an additional speed boost as well as a backline defender.

Mycelic Morphoid was weakened by Time Mage and Soul Fiend. Jared Scar, the third one to attack, was just at the right moment to kill off the enemy, activating his first Bloodlust count.

And I guess it was too early to celebrate as Soul Fiend was poisoned and eventually taken out moments after. This exposes Time Mage to sneak attacks as well as decreasing the speed of my monsters.

Jared Scar strikes back as he scores two more kills, Chaos Agent and Fungus Fiend. He now has 9 attack points.

Pelacor Conjurer continued to evade enemy attacks while Jared Scar delivers fatal blows from the secondary position. Jared Scar ends up getting all the kills and the battle ends at round six.
