Feathers & Arrows: Pelacor Conjurer
The armada has finally reached its conclusion. The print rate for the four Pelacor reward cards are maxed out. And for this week's share your battle, I want to highlight my favorite out of these cards, the Pelacor Conjurer.
Pelacor Conjurer's artwork is a bit weird to me since he's wearing sunglasses. It's a bit off to me since Splinterland's entire lore seems to be set in a medieval fantasy setting. But then again, it also kind of makes sense since the artwork shows him conjuring a blight yellow light. The sunglasses might be for eye protection from it and from other equally bright illuminations from the opponent's magic attacks that the Conjurer has to reflect and dodge.
Pelacor Conjurer is designed strictly for an evasive type of defense strategy. Having good speed paired with the flying ability makes it a good frontline monster. On level four, it also gains magic reflect which is also a good ability. But having it at max level and unlocking the phase is what makes it a complete defensive behemoth. And it would have been a perfect world for Pelacor Conjurers if not for the growing number of True Strike wielding monsters.
For this battle, the rule set is simply Taking Sides which means all neutral units are banned from the game. Both sides chose the light splinter with me utilizing Ilthain and my opponent using Grandmaster Rathe.
The enemy's strategy rely heavily on fortifying Shieldbearer. Crystalsmith is the main support with her tank heal ability while Adelade Brightwing and High Priest Darius offers Resurrect. It's almost like there are three copies of Shieldbearer in this match.
My lineup on the other hand is using Pelacor Conjurer as the frontline monster with a speed buff from Ilthane and enemy speed debuff from time mage. I also have a secondary tank in Corsair Bosun just in case Conjurer fails to dodge lethal attacks.
It's still early in the first round and apparently, Shieldbearer cannot withstand all of my units' combined attacks. He falls midway through the round and the first Ressurect was triggered.
It's the second round and Shieldbearer falls once more, this time triggering its last Ressurect ability. It seems that my team's superiority in the speed stat has a tremendous advantage. Pelacor Conjurer dodges a lot of enemy attacks and what it cannot dodge, the magic attacks, it reflects back to its caster.
With Shieldbearer finally eliminated, my enemy's units are once again easy picking for my team. Pelacor Conjurer was the only monster who took damage in the entire match. This just shows how effective Pelacor Conjurer is especially in the higher leagues when more of his abilities are unlocked. And for just two mana cost, it can easily be used in most rule sets.
