I thinking I've messed up :-/

(Edited)

I started playing Splinterlands a few days ago via my mobile phone. I enjoyed it and thought I'd dive straight in a buy a spell book. I set up my account with the user name @supersamio
I did some more reading (a lot of reading) and set up a crypto wallet with Uphold and a Hive account but with the user name supersamio2021 (because it told me the user name @supersamio was gone - I'm not thinking this might be by me??)

So I have a few different questions and I hope someone might be able to help me out.

  1. Should your Splinterlands account name be the same as on your Hive account?

  2. Is it problematic if they don't match? (I've noticed when I log into PeakMonsters it seems to be with my Hive @supersamio2021 account which does seem to be a problem)

  3. if it is a problem, what can you do about it?

I've found it particularly hard to by DEC in Splinterlands. I've managed to put a small amount of money onto my Uphold account but it doesn't seem possible to buy DEC from here. Some more questions...

  1. Is it possible to buy DEC from Uphold directly

  2. If so, how?

  3. I've bought some credits on my Splinterlands account via PayPal (that was very easy to do), Is it possible to directly convert credits into DEC in Splinterlands.

  4. Finally, does anyone know if it will be possible in the future to withdraw DEC to PayPal?

Thank you in advance if you can help answer any of these questions. I've tried looking here and else where on Hive and Google but haven't found the answers I was looking for.

Cheers,
Sam

P.s - Whilst I normally love to figure things out myself and learn through experience, in hind sight I wish I had, and would recommend reading more and asking more questions before setting up a Splinterlands account and linked Hive account.

I hope this post and the kindness of experienced users will help others avoid the same mistakes I've made.

  1. Your account name does not need to be the same. When you created the Splinterlands account, it automatically created a Hive account, so yes it's you.

  2. Now that you have two Hive account, you can log in as either one. It should not be problematic. But if you continue to post as supersamio2021 and receive SPT you will get SPS airdrop points to that account also. So remember to claim them.

  3. You can always drop the @supersamio2021 account and use @supersamio for both Hive and Splinterlands. Just transfer any tokens to the one account and go.

I can't help with the Uphold account, never used it. But I can tell you that you cannot convert credits to DEC. There has been no announcement regarding PayPal supporting DEC at this time.

That's really helpful. Thank you very much for the info. Now I just need to figure out how to log in to Hive with the original account. I'm sure I'll get there :)
Have a great weekend.

Hello @supersamio2021! This is @traciyork from the @ocd (Original Content Decentralized) curation team. We noticed you shared your first post here on Hive - congratulations and welcome!

I think it might be easier for you to find the answer to your questions in the Splinterlands Discord. Here's the invite link - https://discord.gg/G2RtTSj

As for the rest of my usual welcome message - It would also be awesome if you could do an introduction post, so our community can get to know you better. For an example of what an intro post is like, you can check out this one by my friend & curation team member -

Keeping Up With the Buzz - My Introduction to the Hive Community.

Speaking of community, we have many different ones here on the blockchain, devoted to all kinds of interests. Here's a link so you can check them all out - Hive Communities . I see you already found Splinterlands, and you might be interested in the Hive Gaming Community as well.

Also, as Hive can sometimes be quite confusing, the newly launched Newbies Guide should be helpful to you, as it is a growing repository of useful and easy to understand posts about how the Hive ecosystem works.

Since you're new, you may run into an RC (Resource Credits) error when trying to comment/post because you don't yet have enough Hive in your account yet. For assistance with a temporary delegation to get you started, be sure to check out the Gift Giver site.

For now, @lovesniper will follow your account and we are looking forward to seeing your intro post. Also, please mention (also known as tagging) @traciyork & @lovesniper in your intro post in order for us to be notified, so we can consider your post for OCD curation. Lastly, feel free to hop into the OCD Discord server if you have any questions and best of luck getting everything figured out!
