Stakes and Grindstones

Is it really only halfway through Monday?? It feels like the weekend was forever ago!

It looks like my week has been thrown into some disarray, as my supervisor called today and informed she has Covid - which under normal circumstances isn't much of a problem. However. next week we have a joint delivery for an internal Sales kickoff and she was meant to be delivering half of it. She was in the US (where she caught Corona) last week and delivered with my colleague there for the North American event and said it was pretty intense and - there were only half as many people... Not sure how I am meant to deliver it alone.

But, I will get to this at the end of the week.

Also today, I have had to go into my internet provider and complain about my unstable connection and, the digibox not working. Yeah, "first-world problems" I know - but it has been an ongoing saga for about a year and a half now and the digibox issue became more pressing, since the Ice Hockey World Championships are on in our home town and my wife wants to watch.

Basic life woes.

image.png

But, I am a bit disappointed in myself over the last few days, as I failed to be as bold as I had planned in buying the dip - it is not that I didn't buy anything, but I feel I should have taken a bigger slice. However, this is crypto and I might get a second bite at the cherry in the coming week, but I don't expect the dip to be quite as aggressive as last week's.

What I did buy however was more SPS and while I didn't get the bottom, I am pretty happy with the just under 7 cent average I did get. I picked up another 30K and staked them in-game for the 24% current earnings. There are only 72 days left in the airdrop and with 760 million SPS already emitted, it has crossed the 25% of the total amount and soon, other mechanisms like burning from the purchase of validation nodes starts to kick in.

It is going to see if people will use what they already hold or, will buy SPS on the market to cover the costs the SPS portion of the buy. It requires Vouchers also and I don't have enough of those for the first round at least. However, I might have enough for the second tranche, using the vouchers as a discount that will see the price in SPS at 1500 worth - increasing

Still, the Splinterlands economics are going to get even more complicated to follow and there are so many pathways that can be taken, it is impossible to take them all adequately. Something has to give, at least for me who is doing all of this on the side of my work and family life. It is a fulltime job at least.

I was thinking about this in regard to trading again, where in all likelihood, I would be financially better off quitting all or at least part of my work and spending far more of my time on the exchanges. The problem with this is, I don't think my heart or head could take it day in and day out, especially since it ends up being quite lonely business, not to mention the risk of making errors. A couple bad days trading and things are not looking very rosy and in the bear, the volumes would have to increase in order to make the trades worth enough to live off.

A couple bad days at work however, and it isn't the end of the world and there is plenty of room for social mitigation - trading offers no such relief. However, taking this "hybrid" approach to work and investment has been valuable in so many ways, as it feels like one feeds into the other travelling both ways and, each gives perspective on the other, compounding the personal value of both.

Of course, ultimately I don't want to be working quite so much at all of this and will eventually trim some of it back, but that is what the work is for now, right? I have no idea what is going to happen in this world long-term, but I do feel that I have a pretty good understanding of where I will be in it if I don't do any of this now. I already see the pressure build for some of my friends, as they realize how unprepared they are and how close retirement really is. I am in the same position, maybe even a little worse, but I do have other irons in the fire and SPS, HIVE and various other tokens burning at the stake.

In three or four years, things will be quite different again, but for now, it is back to the grindstone.

Before you quint, it will be Friday. That said, "I am a bit disappointed in myself over the last few days, as I failed to be as bold as I had planned in buying the dip - it is not that I didn't buy anything, but I feel I should have taken a bigger slice."

This sums up my life.

Buying the dip is easier said than done - but there are more dips to come ;)

I’m not as active as you are in the other avenues of hive but this is certainly a second full time job, posting commenting and all that. It’s a fun job for sure but it’s tiring when we are doing both lol. Last night I ended up falling asleep at 730 PM! I haven’t slept that early in months but it’s tiring and I obviously needed the sleep lol.

I’ve been able to buy up the dip a bit on the bitcoin side which is good, I wonder if it will go down more again but in any case I was able to snag a little bit more. With the recent headline over at Coinbase about our assets not being secure if they go belly up, I most certainly pulled all of my stuff off there, even the things that were worth 15$ or so. Fuck those dudes! Thankfully it wouldn’t have been a lot if it happened but I still was annoyed they were threatening people.

Keep the grindstone grinding!

730!! THat is crazy... I would have been up again at 11 and then all night...

I did too. It is a good reminder tbh - don't keep it on exchanges.

Honestly, I don't remember the last time I woke up refreshed. It doesn't matter how much I sleep. Perhaps this is why I am on Hive so much!

(Edited)

you need to reconsider your priorities as a good sleep from 10pm to 6 am is a requirement, allong with drinking enough water and eating 3 quality meals. this is the basic way to `100% keep healthy. before any gimmicks. back to basics therapy, sorting most of our curent problems. if not, sooner or later, all of us need to pay the price for it.

If I go to sleep at 10, I wake up at 1 and then can't sleep til 5am again. In a perfect world, I would get 6 hours at night and then two naps during the day :)

Are you telling me that you sleep only 3 hours? Oh, i am better now thanks to a training/research made with the University of Edinburgh. Not very complicated, but changed some of my habits. basically we sleep eratically because we created this habit, working few months on it and change it, we came back to normal, normal being a continuous 8-9 hours sleep, not waking up, starting at the latest 10.30.

I normally get 4 hours in the night and maybe a 30 minute nap after work. One the weekends, I get some more.

Do you think that the issue of trading now is getting serious especially what happened with Luna I think it's better to convert all the profits of Splinterlands to HBD at least it's almost fixed value.

ummm, depends on what you want to get out of it. I am looking for the value of my holdings to increase, not stay stable, so it requires investing into assets that I think are likely to go up.

I suspect that increasing the volume of transaction in order to ensure sufficient cost of living reckless and risky, I have tried the same in a currency that rose to half a dollar and is now only worth one cent.
It is better to invest crypto in beneficial project in reality and tangible as well

Yeah, it is a hard road, which is why I am quite happy having a couple jobs "on the side" of crypto :)

What kind of pressure do you and those have when retirement is close?

The pressure is here that people have to go on working or find a new work for a living as the pension is not much and the constant inflation.

I don't know what digibox is, but you can try IP TV :)

That we don't have enough to cover the rest of our lives after, in an economy that is failing and an increasing age of retirement :)

When under pressure, some people tend to be more critical and creative. The choices to behave become more and the opportunities to act become wider.

But, because they are under pressure, they tend not to be ready to consider more carefully because they don't have much time and opportunity to think. Decisions must still be made and the most rational choice must be won, the rest is a matter of luck, the courage to take risks.

The choice will be a dilemma and become painful if we only have one hope. Like a table, if it only has one leg, then if it breaks it will fall down right away, right? So, we must have more than 1 leg to stand on, if one leg is broken, the other legs will support it. Creating multiple choices is a must, don't you think, sir?

Pressure does help - which is why I am hoping that my friends starting acting more for their future themselves, rather than relying on the government to do it for them. Multiple streams of investment and revenue are the way of the past and will be the future too. Most do not have this yet.

For presentation why not calling her on Zoom to deliver her part during the meeting.

Cryptocurrency market is not stable yet, it feels like we will see some more hiccups before it takes us to another level.

I had also problem with my Internet connection, there was a problem with fiber cable and I had to face internet outage for few hours, well it was restored btw.

The dip time is not over, go buy some more SPS, DEC, Hive, even some people are hoarding Luna lol, but remember what CZ said about Luna.

It is not that kind of presentation and if sick, she is sick.

I wish there was fiber running in here - I don't even have copper lines I discovered!

I happen to buy the dip more earlier, Hive at 70 cent. I've held off and been hopefully waiting for 20 or 30 cent Hive but looking unlikely we be dipping that low.

The goal is to live off crypto as well but I think there's a lot to still do in build our stake, am not the trader type. Passively earning from stakes just fits for me.

Hopefully after the Airdrop SPS will pick up in price value and with pools to launch on polycub thongs should look a lot better

I don't think it will dip into the 20s... though that is where I missed my buy. I had 29.5c on mine.

I believe their are more dip to come and if I miss out on this one it might put me in a better place to buy the next one but opportunities never seize in crypto because it will surely come.

5 years this has been happening to me, it started here, around people that are still here. Homeland security has done nothing at all, they are not here to protect us. Dont we pay them to stop shit like this? The NSA, CIA, FBI, Police and our Government has done nothing. Just like they did with the Havana Syndrome, nothing. Patriot Act my ass. The American government is completely incompetent. The NSA should be taken over by the military and contained Immediately for investigation. I bet we can get to the sources of V2K and RNM then. https://peakd.com/gangstalking/@acousticpulses/electronic-terrorism-and-gaslighting--if-you-downvote-this-post-you-are-part-of-the-problem

It's the start of another week so the grind continues and I understand your sentiment about the work. However, it does pay the bills and lets you generate wealth. I didn't really buy the dip after the first few days and I am waiting to see what the market actually does.

However, it does pay the bills and lets you generate wealth.

This is the reason for me - it means I don't need to spend crypto that will be worth more than my salary in the future. :)

I am in two minds - maybe a quick 20% dip might be good :D

oh, I dared to go in holiday for 12 days, keeping only one laptop setted up for emergencies, and I tried to not use it when possible, wandering around mountains and river cruises. I did manage to underestimate the Luna market seeing my 140 Luna going to zero (by the time i checked it was already under one dollar). all that I did it was daily quest and checks on Splinterlands and i wrote only one post in two weeks. but I feel good and I solved many problems waiting for me back home from the pre-Covid era. so, worth it. sounds so strange to say it, buut I can afford a 12K lose on Luna. Enough ranting, I am seriously thinking to just rent all the collection. How do you manage to get so much return in rent, do you have mostly legendaries?

and yeah, started work on minimal staff cover two 12 hours shifts saturday and sunday. eech!

Feels good, doesn't it? Not the loss, but not having that amount be cataclysmic for your wellbeing.

How do you manage to get so much return in rent, do you have mostly legendaries?

It is only on the last day of the season. The rest of the time it is about 20% or less than that. If I make it into Champions, I play the second week only, so the first week of rental covers most of what I need for my own rentals, since I am far from having a full deck and need many "big" cards. It is a circular economy for me - not really profit.

I got like $0.30 per day from rentals, on average. Huh!

Yep - and, I am still trading with what I didn't earlier - just feel that too often, I am not risk seeking enough. Though I have to be careful, sometimes I am risk-seeking just to be so, and miss the target.

The grinding doesn’t ever stop , when it stops the chips fall down . On a platform like Hive , the only way to have a headway is consistent painstaking efforts to be visible through active engagements in the many communities the platform provides.
