Title: Prosperous Praetoria Proposal: Incentivizing Underutilized Land

Introduction:
In the realm of Splinterlands, every plot of land holds the promise of growth and prosperity. Yet, a closer look reveals that Common and Rare Natural lands are overwhelmingly laying dormant, untapped in their potential. The Prosperous Praetoria Proposal aims to breathe life into these underutilized lands. We stand at a pivotal moment to boost the vitality of our game's economy, enhancing the value and utility of every acre in Praetoria. This proposal presents a focused, and easy, initiative to stimulate the development of these common and rare plots, inviting and enabling every member of our community to partake in the flourishing of our digital frontier.

In the pioneering spirit of Praetoria, we offer this one-time incentive as a nod to the early settlers of new lands who often receive support to thrive. This initiative is akin to a "homesteading" program, providing aid to those who didn't acquire the most fertile lands but are equally essential to our thriving community.

As the DAO we help act as stewards of the Splinterlands, we are committed to fostering a vibrant economy where all assets hold value and contribute to the overall health and enjoyment of the game. This proposal outlines a strategic initiative to incentivize the development of Common and Rare Natural land plots, which currently see significantly lower utilization compared to their rarer counterparts.

The Proposal:

  1. Temporary Discounted Staking Costs:

    • A 50% DEC staking cost reduction for Common Natural land plots.
    • A 25% DEC staking cost reduction for Rare Natural land plots.
    • This discount is exclusive to these types of plots and does not extend to other land categories.
  2. Market Stimulation:

    • The discount is expected to stimulate the market for dec, for common/rare plots and for buying and staking on Common and Rare cards, directly addressing the current oversupply and underutilization of all three of those assets and for DEC as well. (Also SPS indirectly impacted as well)
  3. Increased DEC Staking:

    • By making it more economically feasible to develop Common and Rare Natural land, we forecast an increase in DEC being actively staked.
  4. Current Utilization Data:

    • Data indicates that a minuscule fraction of Common Natural land is being developed. Most region owners have yet to invest in these plots, leaving approximately 100,000 common natural plots dormant.
  5. Projected Outcomes:

    • If even 50% of Common Natural plots become active with the proposed staking costs, we could see upwards of 1.25 billion DEC staked, far exceeding the current 750 million DEC staked.
    • This would simultaneously sequester a substantial number of cards, most likely maxed reward and chaos cards from the circulating supply, benefiting the game's economy through supply and demand.
  6. Time-Limited Opportunity:

    • Landowners will have a two-week window to activate their common and rare natural land plots to qualify for the temporary staking discount.
    • The discount will be in place for a period of six months, providing a runway for land development and a surge in DEC utilization.
  7. Narrative and Justification:

    • After six months, the program will sunset, subject to review and potential EXTENSION by community DAO governance. This creates a sense of urgency and a rush to stake DEC, which will drive the SPS to DEC conversion mechanism, strengthening our economy.
  8. Other Alternatives Considered

  • In developing this proposal, we evaluated multiple alternatives, aiming for a balance between innovation and practicality. Ultimately, we settled on the simplest yet most effective solution: a 50% staking cost reduction for Common land and 25% for Rare land. This approach is straightforward for both players and the Splinterlands development team. We encourage the developers to share their thoughts on the implementation feasibility in the comments, and we urge the community to consider their input when voting. This proposal prioritizes ease of understanding and implementation, aligning with our commitment to the game's ongoing health and accessibility.

Conclusion:
This proposal isn't just about temporarily lowering costs; it's about energizing a significant portion of Praetoria that holds untapped potential. Getting more users involved and coming into settle Praetoria. It's about encouraging the circulation and strategic use of cards that are currently idle. It's about embracing every corner of our land, ensuring that all players have the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to our world.

By supporting this proposal, we are not only boosting the utility of Common and Rare lands but also promoting economic diversity and activity that benefits the entire Splinterlands community.

We invite you to join us in this initiative, to lay down the roots of prosperity, and to write the next chapter of Praetoria's history.

Your vote matters: Your support in the DAO will determine the future of land development in Splinterlands. Stand with us in making Praetoria a land of opportunity for all.

We need to wait Whitepaper Land 2.0 before this decision

Not sure what it would change about the next 6 months since this is a 6 month proposal. But proposals do take 14 days so if you find something in the whitepaper we will understand if you change to a No. However it's the understanding that not much if anything impacts what is already done. Whitepaper is mostly for future.

As someone sitting on 9 common plots who just decided it wasn't worth gathering the DEC for it, I'd support this. It would make me seriously consider jumping in with my plots.

that's about 225k dec more that could be staked!!

But check the whales land none of them are building on common natural land. we also need them to start staking more DEC too!

and 45 maxed cards utilized. Instead of sunsetting it in six months if this passes, we should maybe offer the choice of burning the staked DEC to keep the benefit as long as they hold the plot in that account.

I'm not sure I like this or not. But I do like the way you clearly outlined the proposal.

I also like your goal. While I think its premature to draw a ton of conclusions about the uptake on land, I do think your premise is right that we will have low utilization.

I would be interested in what others say about it (both pro and con). I will wait to vote after seeing the comments and giving it more thought.

Thanks for putting your effort into growing the community whether or not this passes though.
