New Season No More Free Cards

I was reading through the new update from Splinterlands and thought that I would try and give a condensed break down of some of the key points for everyone.

As it stands, the game has been extremely easy to receive multiple reward cards through simply completing daily quests and having multiple accounts to receive burner extra cards from the daily quests and season rewards. At the end of this season, (Thursday, September 30th, 2021) there will be major changes to stop bots and other players reaping the cheap and easy rewards with multiple accounts.

The new update will now incentivise the players that are invested and hold in-game assets and are focused on building a collection of cards. This means that DEC will now be proportional to the league you are in i.e. lower ranked players will not be receiving as much DEC as a silver player or above. Also, the rewards will now be based on your league as well. Novice and bronze league players will no longer be receiving DEC in their loot chests and will receive credits instead. This will incentivise players to build a collection of cards, increase their power, hold in-game assets, and compete in the ranked leagues. The rewards cards you receive will also be limited depending on the league you are in.

Splinterlands has emphasized that this is a play2earn game model and not a free-to-play. The hope is that this will drive players to hold more in-game assets and invest their time into the game more for future sustainable growth.
