Flawless win with Rebellion Reward Card "Giant Alpine Skink"

The new Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge is here aimed at allowing players to review SPlinterlands cards. In the spotlight over the week are Rebellion Reward Cards. Participation in the challenge is for players to share their perspective of Rebellion card abilities and strengths when used in battle.

Until reading this review prompt, I haven't claimed my free rebellion rewards cards using Glint earned from winning battles. I can say they the new reward system where players earn Glint and can use Glint to earn free cards is amazing and allows every player to earn from the game despite the player's level.

I used 150 Glint to claim a common Rebellion Reward card - Giant Alpine Skink". I did not use Alchemy or any pf the draw enhancements. It's my first Rebellion Reward card and its an amazing Splinterlands character.

Giant Alpine Skink is rated 8 manna. The regular water splinter at the basic level is decorated with a 3 melee attack, 3 Speed, and 6 health counts. The card possesses a Shield Ability that reduces damage from melee and ranged attacks by 50%. At higher levels, the monster unit possesses the Phase and Stun abilities.

The cards's lore reads thus:

Alpine skink are mostly found in the pine forests of the Northern Highlands and up to the alpine zone of the adjacent Agniavas. These enormous lizards grow to over six meters in length and have a thick, armored hide and preternatural agility. They make their dens in rocky cracks and crags and emerge to feed on plants, mountain goats, and other beasts… as well as the occasional adventurer who wanders too close. - Source

Having unveiled my Rebellion reward card, I drew a battle with AImless ruleset and the game rules allowed me to use the rebellion card. Aimlessbattle ruleset ruleset provides that all Units have the Scattershot ability. Scattershot can target Camouflaged units. The battle was summoned by one of the favourite water summoner - Kelya Frendul. This summoner adds +1 Speed and +1 armor to all friendly monster units.

Here is my monster unit lined for the battle in order of position in the battlefield: Giant Alpine Skink (8), Nerissa Tridawn (9), Medaali Guardian (3), Deeplurker (6), Mad Ogre Anarchist (6) and Chaos Bear Guard (4). Two of my monster units had the opportunity ability that allows them to attack from any position and target the enemy's unit with the lowest health. I had one magic attack monster in my team too. See screenshots below for battle outcomes through the rounds.

On seeing the array of the enemy team, I was not sure of a win. The team was well-studded and had a monster unit with an "ambush" ability. Using cards with accumulative 32 health counts against a 37 health count team was a risk to take.

The unexpected happened! by the second round, the enemy team had already lost one of its dreading units with the double attack ability. That was a big relief. Thanks to the cards with opportunity ability in my team that could do some wreck from behind the troop.

The 5-round battle ended with a flawless win as all Six monsters in my team stayed alive to the end of the battle.

Review of the rebellion Card "Giant Alpine Skink" Strength

Despite being my first time ever using this card. It was a superb battle. The card is naturally strong with its 3 melee attack and 3 speed rating.

The card has no armor at default so using a summoner or monster unit that gives armor to it would be an advantage. This is why Kelya Frendul was the best summoner I could use. This would help this card stay longer in battle especially when battling against melee and ranged attack monsters. This would be a great support for its fairly good health count of 6 at a basic level.

The card's Shield Ability is a good fit for melee and ranged attack battles as it reduces their damages by 50%. However, this card would not perform well in a magic attack duel.

Merdaali Giardian with the Tank Heal ability was great support for the Rebellion card (Giant Alpine Skink) in that it was restoring a third of its maximum health each round. Thanks to the Tank heal ability.

I'll look for another set of summoners and monster units that could give a great battle outing with Giant Alpine Skink

What has been your experience battling using a Rebellion Reward card?
