Good Attack & Health is Key for "Basic" Warfare - A Splinterlands' Battle Mage Secret Challenge Entry

Garry Kasparov is a well-known political activist popularly known for his contributions to chess. He holds credit for several writings and speeches related to politics and strategy, where he emphasizes the importance of strategic thinking, foresight, and adaptability. Kasparov's insights often revolve around understanding opponents, staying ahead strategically, and being agile in response to changing circumstances.

in some of his quotes, Kasparov says: "The best defense is a good attack" and he adds “The art of military defense is nearly obsolete today ... Today’s warfare is about hitting first and hitting hard.” Kasparov thinks that inaction kills more people than military intervention. This calls for strategic forward thinking that keeps one ahead of his adversary when in combat.

While reminiscing on the back to basics SPlinterlands battle ruleset which states that Units lose all abilities. However, Summoner effects are still active. I see the battle summoners as the intelligence of the battle lead, while the monster units represent physical artillery and strength. The back-to-basics ruleset assumes that both sides of the combat are equal in physical strength and arsenal. This means that only the intelligence of the lead will determine the fate of the teams.

Round 1 - Battle link

On drawing this battle with a high manna cap of 28, I had to settle for my best-understood summoner - Kelya Frendul which adds speed (+1) and armor (+) to all friendly monster units. This idea was to ensure that the health of my monster units was preserved since there would be no monster-ability. Except for magic attack monsters, other monster units will have to hit the armor before aiming for health. Moreover, I selected monster units with high health counts. Besides, I needed a balance with high attack stats. Thanks to the +1 speed which gives my monsters an edge in attacking first, I settled for Arkemis the bear (10 health, 3 melee attack, 2 speed), Nerissa Tridawn (9 health, 3 magic attacks, 2 speed), and Ice Pixie (1 health, 1 magic attack, and 3 speed).

my attack was well taken care of as well as the health of my monster unit and the battle began. It was a long one despite both sides fielding three monster units only. The duel lasted for Six rounds until the last monster unit in the enemy team was down. below are the screenshots of the outcomes of the battle at the different rounds.

From the above, you will agree with me that the "back to basics" ruleset which disarms all monstre units of their abilities require a good attack & health counts. It was a won batttle and I'd gladly field that team any other time I draw such a ruleset with a similar manna cap.

Did you enounter that battle ruleset, how did it feel like? What was your experience?
