My Best Demoralizing Strategy in Splinterlands Battle

"To defeat an enemy, you must demoralize them, for victory is not only in the strength of arms but in the breaking of their spirit" is an anonymous quote that best describes the art of demoralizing an enemy when in a battle. One would wonder why this is necessary. It gives you a double advantage when in stiff competition.

The demoralizing strategy can be used to weaken and frustrate opponents, making it difficult for them to execute their plans effectively. By reducing their morale and combat effectiveness, these demoralizing abilities can lead to a psychological edge and ultimately, victory in Splinterlands.

I drew this standard ruleset battle with 41 manna cap and it was interesting that on reaching the battlefield, I discovered that the enemy team had the same lead monster as my team. It was a seemingly fierce battle for me. Thinking through on how to win the battle, I decided to apply the demoralizing strategy I'll be sharing in this post.

In the Splinterlands game, certain cards possess abilities specifically designed to demoralize opponents by weakening their capabilities and disrupting their strategies. These abilities can significantly impact the course of a battle by reducing the effectiveness of the opponent's cards and creating psychological pressure.

When seeking to demoralize the enemy in Splinterlands battle, here are some key abilities you have to look for in your monsters and summoners.

  1. Weaken: This ability reduces the Health of all enemy monsters. By lowering the overall health of the opponent's team, Weaken makes it easier to eliminate their monsters. This can quickly turn the tide of battle and demoralize the opponent as they see their forces becoming more vulnerable.

  2. Affliction: An attacking monster unit with affliction ability prevents the target from healing. Affliction negates the opponent's healing strategies, which can be particularly demoralizing if they rely heavily on regeneration to sustain their monsters. Watching their healing efforts go to waste can break their morale.

  3. Demoralize: A monster unit with demoralize ability reduces the Melee attack of all enemy monsters. By lowering the melee attack power, Demoralize makes the opponent’s frontline and damage-dealing monsters less threatening. This reduction in offensive capability can lead to a sense of futility as the opponent struggles to inflict significant damage.

  4. Silence: This ability helps to reduce the Magic attack of all enemy monsters. Note that Magic attacks are often powerful and can bypass armor, so reducing this damage output can significantly weaken the opponent's offensive capabilities. This ability can make the opponent's strategy less effective and cause them to lose confidence in their ability to deal damage.

  5. Slow: This is an amazing ability that reduces the Speed of all enemy monsters. Slower monsters are less likely to attack first, making them more vulnerable to being taken out before they can act. This loss of initiative can frustrate the opponent and cause them to feel overwhelmed.

  6. Headwinds: This ability reduces the Ranged attack of all enemy monsters. Similar to Silence, but targeting ranged attackers, Headwinds can cripple a team that relies on ranged damage. This can force the opponent to rethink their strategy mid-battle and can cause them to feel demoralized as their main damage dealers become less effective.

  7. Blind: A monster with the "Blind" ability increases the chance of enemy attacks missing. When attacks frequently miss, it can be incredibly frustrating for the opponent. This reduction in accuracy can lead to critical failures in their strategy and create a sense of helplessness.

Depending on your available cards, you can combined two or more of the abilities above to strengthen your demoralizing strategy. For me, I combined the weaken and demoralize strategy to win the battle.

For the battle, my team comprised Cursed Windeku (6), Magi Necrosi (6), Moxian Rebel (4), Nimbledook Ranger (7), Disintegrator (7) and Life Saper (3), summoned by a death summoner - Rekler. The enemy team also fielded Cursed Windeku to lead the battle summoned with a Rekler-like summoner that depleted my magic attack and the health of all my monster units by 1.

With the demoralize ability, Dinintegrator, a neutral monster unit that reduced the Melee attack of all enemy units by 1. Disintegrator helped to weaken the attacking strength of the enemy monsters with melee weapons. Rekler summoner on the other hand reduced the health counts of the most powerful and most healthy monsters by 2. Let's look up the battle rounds in pictures.

It was a fierce 8-round battle. My team won surprisingly with 4 monster units still alive. Thanks to the combo of Rekler Summoner and Disintegrator monster that made it easy to weaken the enemy team for a win in the battle.

That combination demoralized both the attack and the defense of the enemy team and I consider it to be my best demoralizing strategy in Splinterlands battle. This was a combination of the Weaken and Demoralize abilities.

What is your best strategy to demoralize your enemy in Splinterlands battle?
