Victory of the "Commons" is in their Unity & Strength of purpose: A Splinterlands' Battle Mage Secret Challenge Entry
Drawing the Rise of the Commons Splinterlands battle ruleset which stipulates that only common and rare units may be used in battles, made me lookup to grasp more information on the different card rarities. In Splinterlands game, card rarities determine how likely a certain card is to be found in a Booster Pack or Loot Chest, as well as its number of levels and cards necessary to reach those levels. The card rarities - common, rare, epic and legendary, in ascending order of superiority make up the four categories of cards in terms of rarity.
Legendary cards are highly studded cards in terms of stats, power and requires a few counts of cards to be combined to reach the maximum card potential. The common cards being the least set of cards in the rarity cadre are low power cards and require lots of card combinations to reach the maximum character potential. While trying to reflect on what these would mean in life situations, I remember the war story of about a young and charismatic leader with character name Ealdred, who emerged from the ranks of the downtrodden a small, secluded village nestled within the heart of the kingdom.
The emergence of Ealdred was in response to the long suffering of his people under the oppressive rule of the aristocracy. Ealdred possessed an unwavering belief that the power to change their fates lay in the hands of the people themselves. In their kingdom, there was an insurmountable divide between the elites and non-elites, and the impoverished masses yearned for a glimmer of hope. Little did they know that their day of reckoning was drawing near, that was the day of "The Rise of the Commons."
the self-inspired Ealdred echoed through the villages and towns, igniting the spirits of the commoners. Soon, a united front was formed, comprising of farmers, blacksmiths, bakers, and laborers, standing shoulder to shoulder. They had no swords nor shield, but were armed with unwavering resolve and a burning desire for justice.
Though the word of this grassroots movement led by Ealdred did spread like wildfire, the aristocracy scoffed at the idea of these peasants daring to challenge their centuries-old authority. On the long run, a clash between the aristocracy and Ealdred's group of commons was inevitable. The noble houses raised their armies, bedecked in glistening armor, and armed with weapons forged in the finest blacksmith shops. On the other side, the commoners gathered, their simple tools and farming implements now repurposed as makeshift weapons.
The battle happened. The two forces met with a deafening clash of ideologies and steel. Commoners fought with a fervor born of desperation, fueled by their burning desire for fairness and justice in the society while the noble fought to maintain their grip on power. Ealdred led his people from the front lines, his charisma and courage inspiring even the most timid of his followers. The battle raged on for hours, neither side willing to yield. But it was clear that the commons had an advantage—the power of unity and the strength of purpose.
In the darkest hours of the night, the tides of battle turned. The commoners, driven by their unwavering resolve, began to push the nobility back. The aristocracy's veneer of invincibility cracked, and panic spread among their ranks. The commoners eventually emerged victorious, defeating the nobles and brought the era of oppression to an end.
The story of "The Rise of the Commons" legendary, how the ordinary people led by Ealdred with courage had risen against all odds to claim their rights and create a fairer society. I hope you weren't bored by that long story, however, its just the truth about those we call the commoners. In unity, they can rise to become a formidable force that could stir a change. Remember the Hostile steem takeover and how the Hive witnesses united to forge out the beautiful Hive blockchain we enjoy today,
My Battle Experience and Strategy
The experience of batting with the Rise of the commons ruleset was not different from the above story. The manna cap for the battle was 18 and it was enough to have staged Serpent of Eld, Ice Pixie and Deeplurker and was battling against Shieldbearer, VenariCrytalSmitth, Scavo Hireling and Chaos Agent
I thought I had the best team since all my monsters were attacking monsters and with good abilities. The enemy team had just two attacking monster and the second one looked so feeble at face value with just 1 range attack stat. It turned out to be the most fierce battle I ever fought on Splinterlands - 10 rounds! See screenshots below.
After 10 rounds of fierce duel, my tem lost. I discovered that the enemy team were more united. VenariCrytalSmitth with the Tank heal ability kept ensuring that the lead monster in their team was restored each round to full capacity for a fierce delivery. Such support system was lacking in my team. Every single monster in my team wanted to strike directly.
i learned a lot from the battle and look forward to right my ills if I draw that ruleset again.
