Ambush & Piercing Combo | Is That The Next Bazooka
It is a week of experimenting to me, since I join the modern league after the recent update from wild format which contain majority of my monster cards so I had to start building my modern collection bit by bit and currently I'm still below average even though I have most of my cards levelled up to a certain level and I just had to rent some certain top tier cards so as to balance up, even though the cards are good, to me, the abilities really matters a lot to me. This week I was enticed by the Ambush ability which is one of the top tier ability out there and also a good use case in having an upper hand when it come to battle strategy
The main aim of most of the battle is to be victorious over our opponent since we have to use energy for each battle and securing a win really matters, a defeat means an energy lost and also the glint and sps reward, so it is best to know what will work best. Using the ambush ability give the unit the chance of attacking before the battle even start so I had to think of which ability I can actually pair with it and the piercing ability really ring a bell because it is one ability that can pierce through an armour which is literally cool, so I had to find the best time to actually make use of this opportunity, check out this battle

I had this particular battle when experimenting, we had 17 mana capped which is very low to me, picking cards in this kind of battle is very risky and one have to think it through, any mistake means you are losing the battle, checking out the single ruleset which was True Aim which will always hit their target and also pick any element except from life and death. I'm always bothered when ever I come across low mana battle but this time around, I knew what I want to use so I just picked dragon paired with water element, I had Akane in my collection which I recently rent so I was planning to use the ambush ability because I somehow know my opponent will want to flex his muscle which will make him use low capped cards with average or little health so I had to give him some surprised attack.
Firstly, I picked Xenith Monk which was a neutral card with heal and void ability, I don't have enough mana so I see that as my best option, was bothered he might use a blast ability so I just placed torrent fiend next to it, just to receive any damage. Venka The Vile was my main card with the charge ability, introducing the charge ability felt like a blessing to the melee kingdom because it allow the unit to attack from any position and also attack the first card of the opponent but the piercing ability made it exceptional, it was capped at level 2 so I didn't get to see the trample ability and lastly was Hardy stonefish to take the back attack.
Seeing what my opponent brought onboard, made me give xenith and venka the ambush ability, his cards weren't strong enough so that really did the work, before the battle start, I had already weaken his stand with the ambush ability by destroying his fiend and regal card, then when the battle started properly, round 1 was pretty easy to destroy 80% of his cards and in round two, the rest was history, I had to try it couple of times and it work really well which made it a good strategy to key into, pairing both ability together is a good choice.
