Adapting to Modern: Card Equipping

image.png

Prelude
In my last post on adapting to modern, I shared on some strategies that I will adopt because of my gameplay will be moving to modern due to the recent changes from Splinterlands which makes Wild not such a viable place to be playing if you do not have a substantial pool of staked SPS and also the additional Wild Pass cost requirements to play in Wild. Hence in today, I will be sharing on some of the things I am doing with regards to the call strategies that I called out.

Adaptation Begins
The comfortable bullying of bots for lower card collection players is no longer there due to the massive efforts from the developers to get rid of bots. No matter how, throughout the journey of Splinterlands, many of us went through loads of adaptation and this time is no different. So let's begin.

Maximize Soul Bound
In the sharing that I had, this is something that needs to be worked on with immediate effect.

Soul Bound cards come in 2 forms, one is the Gladius and the other is the standard Soul Bound cards coming from loot chest.

I will first discuss on Gladius which can be obtained by buying Gladius packs using merits which can be earned either through brawl or opening loot chest. These are cards that help us much in Brawls and also in normal matches if we are able to deploy a summoner that has the conscript ability. Very strong cards that can over turn a match easily from the like of Quora, Captain Katie , Tatanya Blade to name a few. For me, my collection is a little lacking and I hope to strengthen this aspect and level up cards that are of lower levels to gain stronger versions of the card.

On the standard Soul Bound cards which can be obtained via loot chest, I am actually hoping to save up some Glint to exchange for legendary Soul Bound cards before going in hard to get more of the rest to level up the cards because the legendary Soul Bound cards are really good especially the ones with Weapons Training. But one thing that needs to be worked at will be the accumulation of Glint which I think can be improved when my Soul Bound collection improves.

My current Legendary Soul Bound Card Situation:

Renting out Unused Cards
For me, my collection in Wild is rather minimal, I haven't got time to study the market and setup my rental to recoup some DEC to fund for my modern card collection purchase but this is definitely something that can be done but will not be of high priority at the moment.

Knowing What Cards to Upgrade
This part will be important in terms of shaping how I will be shaping up my collection to become more modern viable.

The first thing that immediately needs to be worked upon is to be more Silver League capable. I understand now there is no limit in terms of card levels and such, but to me, the Silver League boundary that we had in the past is a good starting point for people like me and other smaller collection players.

Old Silver League Level Limt

So in order for us to be able to play to the guidance above, the first thing to work on will be the summoners. If I look at what I have in terms of summoners, every Splinter is not up to meeting this limit and needs to be worked on.

Water - Level 3
Death - Level 3
Fire - Level 2
Earth - Level 1
Life - Level 1

Priority will need to go to Earth and Life in order to use stronger cards, without a proper summoner, we will not be able to call upon cards that are of higher levels. So right now, main thing is to work on summoners.

Another group of cards that I am thinking to get will be some of the starter card that I've not owned, especially those that are coming from Rebellion. Some of the starter card that I've identified that can make a difference to my gameplay is as follows:

Torch Vizier - Fire
Flame Mephit - Fire
Anasth Soothsayer - Water
Daigendark Surveyor - Water
Mar Torren Seeker - Water
Lurking Puffer - Earth
Endless Ape - Earth
Ujurak Mystic - Earth
Blackmoor Nymph - Earth
Lioceros - Earth
Albahoo Forester - Life
Anachron Bolter - Life
Thanalorian Archer - Life
Chaos Animator - Death
Fenmoor Haunt - Death
Helheim Demon - Death
Daigendark Hunter - Death
Moxian Rebel - Neutral
Mad Ogre Anarchist - Neutral
Grimbardun Fighter - Neutral
Nimbledook Archer - Neutral

Yes it is a big list but these card I do think will be good additions to the collection. When market prices are right, I will try to get some of them to bolster my collection. While they can be used as starter cards, they do reduce rewards if we do not own them. There are some that I would like to prioritize first because of the way they are helping me win games such as Torch Vizier, Mad Ogre Anarchist, Endless Ape and Moxian Rebel. So obtaining them will be key focus right now.

Wrap Up
I will continue to share on my adaptation on moving towards modern and how I am increasing my collection in modern cards to handle this. I do like to see my collection grow. It is definitely not easy to be competing in the modern and I hope I can quickly catch up and be sufficiently competitive.

Let's continue to grow and find path in modern as we journey on playing Splinterlands.
