Discussing Splinterlands - At The Crossroads (Contd)

Good day to all, last week in this similar post, I have shared about something that is going to shake Splinterlands community by storm, so far the situation is still a little unsettled. Let's continue discussing on it.

Let's look at how the current situation of the proposal, it is still shy of about 2 million vote value in order for it to receive DHF funding support with 178 days to go out of the initial 180 days proposed.

As I was trying to find answers to why the proposal still in the midst of moving towards getting approved, I went to look at some of the statistics on Peakmonsters to see if there I can get some analysis out of those information.

Data that I analyzed is based on the past 3 months.

If we look at transactions, there is a significant drop since the 3rd week of May and continue dropping.

Next, I looked at the total number of battles, from 2nd week of June, the total number of battles took a big plunge as compared to before. This should be a resultant of the changes put in place by the developers which was successful in reducing the number of bots that are grinding the rewards out.

Based on this, we are supposedly looking at 113 signup daily. But I do see that it is subtly dropping. And as far as I know, there are quite a number of people whom I knew during when I first started playing Splinterlands, no longer play due various commitments in life such as work, newborn and others.

While the above only gave us snippets to slightly explain the lack of votes, but I still feel there is some fundamental changes that the blockchain and the Splinterlnads need to work hand in hand for the ecosystem to work.

My general thoughts is that, Splinterlands peaked during the COVID-19 era where most of us are being locked at home due to all kinds of social distancing and reduce of going out in view of getting the disease and also many people were working from home due to various government measures to curb the widespread of the disease.

However, with things going better, including myself, work is moving back to offices and the total amount of time in front of our own personal computer is reduced (unless you are playing while working). With this situation, people are changing their priorities and also focus. There can be many Splinterlands accounts but I believe the number players actively playing should have significantly reduced. There could also be players whom are just farming on lands as well.

So my worry is that people are being more on the passive end. Even on Hive, there are people whom I know whom used to hold big assets either liquidated with probably a shell remain and also becoming less active. This is why probably both Hive and Splinterlands have to work together to see how a joint marketing can be possible to entice people back into the blockchain to explore gaming in blockchain. Personally I still feel there is loads of opportunity in play2earn games and for sure more people can be onboarded as quite a number of people I talk to didn't know about the existence of such games.

If the DHF that is approved can be used to host webinars or even some roadshows in more densely popular countries in maybe various parts of Asia, there is a good chance that we can once again improve the player base and allow Splinterlands to take flight again. So key is how the partnership between game and blockchain enable this as a whole, to improve the overall ecosystem to benefit the blockchain and game in totality.

No matter how, in order for things to work, it is not just one party to make it happen. I do hope things will get a good resolution and I am glad to also see how Splinterland developers also saying that they really hope not to leave Hive Blockchain. Let's hope for the best and see how good things can be made better.
