Social Media Challenge - Upping The Game, Facing Immortalis Again

image.png

Prelude
Good day to all, how are all of you doing? Hope all of you are doing good. This is the first time I am writing a Spinterlands post away from my home country. Instead of sunny Singapore, I am right now in Boise, Idaho for a business trip. Thankfully the network is great and I can still do my post. So in today's post, I will once again be sharing a battle against Immortalis which is the summoner that I least want to encounter in modern. This time round, the Immortalis that I am facing is a Level 2 which is gonna be a tough one.

Immortalis

Just a recap in case anyone is not familiar with this summoner, it is a legendary Chaos Legion Summoner that comes with Void, Shatter and reduces the health of opponent cards by 1. One complete summoner that is hard to fight against, effective against magic with void, effective against others with shatter to pull off big hits. So without further ado, let's go right into the battle.

Selection Analysis
For me, I love to use my double martyr setup with Venrai Marksrat and River Hellondale to trigger. And because it is an equal opportunity ruleset, I put Marksrat in the 2nd position so that both Oshannus and Nerissa can benefit from the Martyr boost. The lineup also is filled up with Kulu Mastermind which is a strong hitter at 4 attack and lastly included a Swamp Spitter which does armour repair. (Though with shatter, repair won't see too big an effect)

On my opponent side, I see an evolved Grund, Slipspawn, Goblin Psychic and Spirit Hoarder. These will make things hard for me. Slipspawn has force field while Goblin Psychic has affliction and Spirit Hoarder has dispel which are all coming from the levelled up state. And opponent deployed a double heal, which will make it hard to not just kill the Grund but the triage from Spirit Hoarder also boost the survivability of Slipspawn. Looks like I am in for a tough fight.

A very strong lineup which has many evolved abilities which will make it hard for my lineup. How will my lineup handle? Let's get right to the battle.

Round by Round Synopsis

Round 1 - Game on. Double martyr was triggered in the round which is good for me where both my Oshannus and Nerissa powered up. But need to do sufficient damage before the dispel comes. So hopefully the start of round 2, we can do more till Dispel acts.

Round 2 - Combining the powers, after the 2 magic attackers struck, Kulu Mastermind landed the kill onto Slipspawn. With an exposed Spirit Hoarder, Swamp Spitter landed an attack on it and kill it before it can dispel any of my powered up card. Goblin Psychic landed a direct hit onto Swamp Spitter, giving it affliction.

Round 3 - This round we started reducing opponent card health but my Swamp Spitter is already low on health and ended up getting take out by my opponent. Suddenly everything start to land hits on Oshannus. I hope my lineup can hold up and start doing some opportunistic damage on my opponent.

Round 4, My backline took out Satha Toledo from the match as I see how Oshannus regained it dodge king title and started dodging every strike that came in its direction. Time to return the favour and get our win.

Round 5, Both side saw casualties, I took out Goblin Psychic but lost Oshannus. Things looks a little shaky now, hopefully we can fight back and claim a victory.

Round 6-8, the 3 rounds saw exchanges between the cards and finally at the last blow, the surviving cards on my end were Kulu Mastermind whom cleared off opponent's Pallus to secure the win for me.

Battle Summary
What an exciting battle where I came up against a very well levelled with a lvl 2 Immortalis which spells a pain for me with its abilities it give to its lineup and also all the levelled up cards that I faced. Certainly no walk in the park and at many juncture at risk of winning.

Wrap Up
Unlikely win especially against something that I rarely will win against. But we overcome the tide and the odds stacked against me. A good win and certainly a win that was hard earned to see how my lineup was able to front such a strong lineup.
