GOING THE DISTANCE



"Only units with ranged attacks may be used."

GOING THE DISTANCE is one of the rulesets limiting the use of monsters we choose. In GOING THE DISTANCE Ruleset, we can only use Ranged attack monsters. But besides Ranged attack monsters, Dual-Attack type monsters can also be used as long as one of the Attack types is Ranged attack.

Because Ranged attack monsters cannot attack if they are in the first position, it is necessary for ranged monsters that have CLOSE RANGE ability to be placed in the first position. Or you can rely on Dual-Attack-type monsters with Melee and Ranged as attack types.

In addition to using the CLOSE RANGE ability, we can also rely on the RETURN FIRE ability to reverse some of the attacks taken from the opponent's Ranged monster. Or we can also use the SHIELD ability to reduce the damaging impact of the opponent's Ranged monster attack.

RULESET & FORMATION

In addition to GOING THE DISTANCE, the Rulesets in this battle are...

ARMORED UP

ARMORED UP is one of the rulesets that gives additional buffs to all monsters in the battle arena. The buff received by all monsters is the addition of 2 ARMOR. The buff is similar to the PROTECT ability which both provide an additional 2 ARMOR. Still, the difference is that the PROTECT ability is only useful for one of the teams carrying monsters with the ability.

The way to deal with the ARMORED UP ruleset is to bring monsters that have the RUST ability. RUST ability is useful for reducing 2 ARMOR received or owned by all opposing monsters. Or you can also rely on the SHATTER ability which can remove all ARMOR from one target.

My Line-Up

- Give a reduction of 1 SPEED to All Enemies
- Give a reduction of 1 Attack power to All Enemies Ranged monsters
Since it is in the GOING THE DISTANCE Ruleset, Quix the Devious is the best choice. Quix the Devious will grant a 1-point reduction in Attack power to all of your opponent's Ranged monsters. In addition, Quix the Devious also reduces SPEED by 1 point, allowing my monsters to attack first.
DOUBLE STRIKE + SHATTERTo fill the first position in GOING THE DISTANCE Ruleset, we need a monster that has CLOSE RANGE ability or Dual-Attack type monster. And this time I chose to use a Dual-Attack-type monster, namely Drybone Raider.

Drybone Raider is equipped with the DOUBLE STRIKE ability which allows it to attack twice per round. At level 2, it has the SHATTER ability that can destroy all of your opponent's ARMOR in 1 attack.
NONEBesides Drybone Raider, I also brought Runemancer Florre which are both Dual-Attack type monsters. The difference is that Runemancer Florre uses the Magic attack type instead of the Melee attack type. Despite not having any abilities, Runemancer Florre has high Attack power and Health points.
SCATTER SHOT + CRIPPLE + POISONI use Acid Shooter because he has the SCATTER SHOT ability that can prevent him from the effects of the TAUNT ability so that he can attack random targets each round. At higher levels, Acid Shooter is equipped with CRIPPLE and POISON abilities so that it makes it difficult for opposing monsters to clear the debuffs he gives.
SNEAK + SCAVENGER + STUNRather than attacking the opponent's first-position monster, Iza the Fanged attacks the opponent's last-position monster using the SNEAK ability. He can also increase his max health points when a monster is defeated (either on our side or the opponent's side) by using the SCAVENGER ability. And in each attack, there is a possibility that the opponent cannot move because Iza the Fanged has the STUN ability.
MARTYR + BLINDI use Fungus Flinger to increase the stats of the monster that comes after it when it is defeated. By using the MARTYR ability, Fungus Flinger can add 1 point to all stats of nearby monsters.

In addition, Fungus Flinger also has the BLIND ability to reduce the accuracy of the opponent's attacks so that their attacks miss more often.
BACKFIRE + SWIFTNESSNaga Assassin is a unit that I want to increase its stats when Fungus Flinger is defeated. If all of his stats are increased, Naga Assassin will have an easier time dodging attacks from the opponent's monsters as well as returning them by using the BACKFIRE ability.

He also has the SWIFTNESS ability to add SPEED to all of my monsters so that I can get a turn to attack first.

BATTLE START !!!

The opponent uses Kelya Frendul who can add 1 more ARMOR after previously getting an additional 2 ARMOR from the ARMORED UP ruleset. The additional 1 SPEED can be neutralized by Quix the Devious which provides a 1 SPEED reduction.

The opponent also brought Wave Brood which has the RETURN FIRE ability. This is a little favorable for the opponent because we are currently in the GOING THE DISTANCE Ruleset where all monsters are Ranged attack monsters so every attack from my monsters will be returned.

In the first round, Runemancer Florre, Iza the Fanged, Fungus Flinger, and Naga Assassin attacked Wave Brood. But some of their attacks were returned by Wave Brood with his ability (RETURN FIRE ). The Drybone Raider attacked the Venari Marksrat, while the Acid Shooter targeted the Angelic Mandarin and it successfully dealt a poison effect.

On the opposing side, Angelic Mandarin, Xenith Archer, Gargoya Devil, Drybone Raider, and Wave Brood attacked my Drybone Raider.

In the second round, Runemancer Florre, Iza the Fanged, Fungus Flinger, and Naga Assassin attacked Wave Brood again. The Drybone Raider managed to defeat the Venari Marksrat, while the Acid Shooter targeted the Xenith Archer and he again managed to inflict poison effects.

My Drybone Raider was defeated by Angelic Mandarin, Xenith Archer, and Gargoya Devil. But before that, he managed to destroy the ARMOR of the opponent's Drybone Raider. The opponent's Drybone Raider attacked Runemancer Florre, but the Wave Brood attack failed to hit him.

In the third round, Iza the Fanged, Fungus Flinger, and Naga Assassin attacked Wave Brood. Acid Shooter targeted Angelic Mandarin again. Meanwhile, Runemancer Florre attacks the opponent's Drybone Raider.

Almost all attacks from the opponent's monsters failed to hit Runemancer Florre except for the attack from Xenith Archer and the second attack from the opponent's Drybone Raider.

In the fourth round, Angelic Mandarin and Xenith Archer lost due to the poison effect given by Acid Shooter. Iza the Fanged, and Naga Assassin defeated Wave Brood. Meanwhile, Runemancer Florre, Acid Shooter, and Fungus Flinger managed to defeat the opponent's Drybone Raider.

The opponent's last monster Gargoya Devil failed to land its attack on Runemancer Florre.

Review of this battle

The victory in this battle was more due to luck. One of the reasons was that Acid Shooter successfully targeted and poisoned Angelic Mandarin which was a support unit to heal Wave Brood. The Wave Brood which has the RETURN FIRE ability dealt damage to most of my Ranged monsters.

Another reason I was able to succeed was because several attacks from the opponent's monsters failed to hit Runemancer Florre and all thanks to Fungus Flinger's BLIND ability. If there was no BLIND ability, Runemancer Florre would likely have been defeated in the third round and perhaps the victory would have belonged to the opponent.
