Friends, SoulKeep has been playable for just over two weeks and things over on the market are starting to seriously heat up. When this game launched I was shocked to see how passive the market was and decided to make some fairly major moves. So far, I've been able to corner the market on some interesting assets, lock down copies of the best heroes in the game, acquire a truly awesome collection of cards.

As mentioned above, this article contains no paid promotion or referral links. I write these articles to keep the gamers on PeakD and the CryptoVillains informed about whats going on in the Play2Earn space but, more importantly, I do this because I love it. Let's get right to it.

Who is WalledCity and why should you care

I am a gamer working in the blockchain space professionally who spends their time obsessively researching the games I love. I only have one speed and it's pretty intense. I founded the CryptoGamers Guild and later the CryptoVillains to help lead others forward in this space.

I bought into Splinterlands ~4 years ago as I am obsessed with both trading card games and cryptocurrency. Within a week researching the current Play2Earn games on the market at the time it was clear Splinterlands and Axie Infinite were the big fish in the space. I opted for Splinterlands as I love TCGs and never looked back. Though we were saving for a major move at the time I fond $500 to pour into a collection started playing daily.

I used that collection to learn all about gaming on HIVE, leveraged it through rentals to buy into a variety of other games, and less than three years later sold my collection for $7k in BTC. I have been successful here before and it's all because I love these fucking games.

Why Soulkeep

Why did I invest in SoulKeep? What were the green flags that inspired me to get involved on day 1 of the projects launch? In short, the Splinterlands architecture.

SoulKeep is a project of the SplinterLands team but, in a larger sense, it's a project native to the Splinterlands architecture. This meant that on day one you could access your SoulKeep collection through Splinterlands and do advanced rental and trading actions through websites like MonsterMarket.io. This is massive.

*My familiarity with this system from my years in Splinterlands provided me an oppertunity to be one of the first renters on the marketplace. *

In my opinion this will provide SoulKeep with massive stability in it's opening months and nearly guarantee a successful launch.

The Story of Celene

Bluntly, I was shocked to show up to the SoulKeep launch and find the most rare asset in the game selling for <$200. For the reasons I've laid out above I believe SoulKeep has everything it needs to be very successful and I found a market that even my meager crypto-bags could interact with.

SoulKeep has three types of cards: Towers, Spells, and Heroes. There is currently one hero, Celene, and the only way to aquire her is through airdrop. This means she is stupid rare, will always be the first hero in the game, and is currently the ONLY hero in the game.

Not my picture but a good example.

In week one most normal cards were ~$2, the most expensive tower was ~19, the only hero in the game was available as a gold card for ~$165. None of this made any sense to me as someone who remembered Splinterlands cards selling for thousands of dollars early in it's lifecycle. So, I poured in ~$500 and built a collection. This included a golden Celene and a standard Celene along with nearly all the cards in the game in gold (but at their lowest levels).

Now, less than 2 weeks later, this is the Celene market:

There is currently one gold Celene on offer for $750 and I expect it to be sold by the end of the day.

There are currently <20 standard Celenes on offer and I expect to see them selling very quickly.

Moving Forward

Moving forward I am focused on using the cards in my collection to play SoulKeep, unlock everything I can, and make myself an expert on the games ecosystem. As these freshly launched cryptogames are so unique, new, and niche the only way to chat a path forward is to do so yourself.

I'll be writing more soon about what steps I'm taking on my path forward but for now I'll tell you this:

  1. I decided to kick another $500 into DEC to purchase SoulKeep assets. The sky seems to be the limit here and I'm putting my money where my mouth is.

  2. To assist in actual play I've aquired what I consider to be the best towers and spells in the game and leveled them up to level 6-9. This more than doubles their damage and effects and should help me stand ahead of the pack in the daily tournaments.

  3. My unused cards are being rented out for daily market prices. There seems to be some hiccups in the gears over on MonsterMarket.io but that just means a little extra work to make our daily DEC.

If you are interested in this kind of thing I invite you to follow this account and keep up with all the latest SoulKeep and Play2Earn news as I can write it! Thanks foir the support friends!
