Fans' Demand for Cody vs. Roman Reigns at WrestleMania.
What's up, Ghana on Hive! I hope there are some wrestling fans here. I checked the description of the page and realized it's okay to start an entertainment niche in this beautiful community. I hope you all are going to enjoy the journey with me. I will also be happy to know if you guys are okay with it in the comment section.
Okay, let's have some fun:
WrestleMania, the biggest wrestling event in the world hosted by WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) each year around the months of April. We get to see amazing superstars battle it out for championships in the most awesome ways possible. What makes wrestling entertaining are the storylines that precede each match. It's like a live telenovela 😉. And trust me, it's amazing when they get the lines right, from promos to the match itself.
This year's storylines are so electrifying, it's got the number one hashtag trending on Twitter in the world currently for over 74 hours and counting. #WeWantCody.
Who is Cody?
Cody Rhodes, the "American Nightmare," is an American professional wrestler, born to the late Dusty Rhodes.
Now, to understand why this is trending, I needed to bring his father in. You see, Dusty was also an impactful wrestler in his days, and he trained a lot of the current superstars whom we see and enjoy today, like Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Becky Lynch, Kevin Owens, and many other big names.
Now, for those not so familiar with these names, Roman and Seth are the two current Heavyweight Champions in WWE, with Roman as the Universal Heavyweight champion and Seth as the World Heavyweight champion.
Here's the kicker, guys:
With all this impact Dusty made, he never won a singles title in WWE. Yeah, he was a tag champ once, but to hold the most prestigious titles? Nope, not once.
Then came Cody Rhodes, Dusty's boy, to accomplish that feat and solidify his father's impact. This is why there is the phrase "Finish The Story" making waves in the Wrestling Universe.
Now, he tried to do that in last year's WrestleMania but lost that match when Roman Reigns got some outside ring interference help from his family members, the Usos', and Solo Sikoa.
Fast forward to this year, Cody, the winner of the Men's Royal Rumble Match (last two weeks Saturday), which is the determining event for whoever will face any of the heavyweight champions, pointed to Roman's direction that night, saying the words "I chose You Roman Reigns."
This got the crowd cheering on and super excited because Cody is finally going to "finish the Story".
But the next WWE segment got fans angry at the turn of events.
You see, CM Punk, who was supposed to face Seth Rollins (The world Heavyweight champion), got injured during the Rumble, and therefore, cannot compete for the next 6 months. With WrestleMania just 2 months away, WWE just had to change the plans.
So their decision was, why not give Cody to Seth Rollins to finish the story and bring in the Rock (the most loved Babyface wrestler of all time) to face Roman Reigns.
Fans said Naaaa!
We Want Cody To Face Roman Reigns!
The reason is simple. Arguably, but popularly said, Roman's title is greater than Seth's title. And also, Roman has this annoying streak of being champion for over 3 years now, which fans are just tired of and want to see come to an end.
According to fans, there is no better way they prefer for Cody to "Finish the Story" than by beating Roman Reigns and taking the Universal Heavyweight championship.
Also, there is the theory that if Roman Reigns Faces The Rock (who is probably about to retire), Roman would just retain the title and solidify his Championship Reign.
This is what has got the fans so mad that last night during the Monday Night RAW segment, they kept on with the #WeWantCody Chants, and also added a very disturbing one to the WWE, Rocky Sucks.
Like I said, The Rock is the most loved Wrestler of all time, and for the fans to chant Rocky Sucks, is a really big deal.
So here is the main reason for the trending hashtag on Twitter. #WeWantCody.
Thanks for joining me today, guys. I hope you enjoyed it. Let me know your thoughts in the comments. Have a great day, guys.
