What Is That Bird

Good morning and thanks for stopping by.

Today's little coin is a very little one indeed. It is a 1 Cent Canadian coin from 1967.

1 cent (1).jpg

On the front is a Rock Dove in flight. I had no idea what one of them even was so I had to Google that one.
Basically it is a bloody Pigeon which really let me down! In the United Kingdom they are referred to as rats with wings. They are a bloody nightmare to deal with over here.

Reverse of the coin: Queen Elizabeth II wearing a tiara. She is 37 years old.
Year: 1967
Value: 1 Cent
Currency: Dollar
Silver: 0 grams
Weight: 3.24 grams
Diameter: 19.05mm
Thickness: 1.65mm

I had assumed with the colour it was probably a Copper coin. Which once I had read up on it on Numista, I found out that it is actually a bronze coin. 98% Copper, 1.5% Zinc and 0.5% tin.
This made this a much more interesting coin for me when compared to the 5 cents coin previously shown.

It is part of the 100th Anniversary of Canada set I bought and this sadly is the last I will have to show you all for a while.

Future purchases of coins will have to wait for a while as I plan to spend some money on the Monster Raffle being run in the ssg-community. Check it out here Monster Raffle

A copper coin with face value of One Cent CAD with a commodity value of four cents CAD and that's why I keep every one I find even though the One Cent has been demonitized since 2014.
