Battle Mage Secrets: Odds Ones Out with Range Only battle

Hello! to all members of the Splinterlands community. I'm @zactian. I'll write about my strategy and another weekly challenge, Battle Mage Secrets, in my blog today.


What Account Use

I'm using BLTZR-WIZARD-724. I'll share my main strategy in this straightforward but efficient likelihood of winning rule-set max-level cards in a modern format.

Odds Ones Out is the challenge, You can still apply summoners at any cost, but you can only utilize troops with odd mana costs.

Recommended summoner to use Odds Ones Out rule set for this match:

Since the rule set given has Going the Distance, I utilize this summoner Quix the Devious to reduce the opponent both Range and Speed by 1 to opponent units. The combo element would be the fire element as this element has Ash Mirage for another debuff range by 1 and Lava Launcher which is good for tanking.

This is the basic lineup I came up with, Dragon and Fire Element combo with range-only battle. I want to dominate the opponent in speed while also reducing their damage.



Note: I only have limited cards but they are useful in some rule sets and I will try my best to win with existing cards. So if you want a high chance of winning, I advise you to rent or buy useful or stronger cards for most rule sets.

My Lineup

First position - Gargoya Devil

  • Acts as a tank in the first position as I want to do at least survive 1 round with my Lava Launcher, it also has a close-range ability that can attack even in first position.

Second position - Lava Launcher

  • Both main range damage as it has 5 range damage and tank because of the massive armor it has.

Third position - Ash Mirage

  • A second-range damage with decent speed and Headwinds ability which can decrease the opponent's range damage by 1.

Fourth position - Blood Maker

  • A 4 damage with decent speed, this is good for additional damage attack with Scattershot Ability which can attack randomly enemy units.

Fifth position - Gem Meteor

  • Another 4 damage with decent speed, for an extra damage with Scattershot ability.

Last position - Gobson Bomber

  • 3rd and last main damage of my team, that can deal 3 times with 3 damage it has because of Recharge ability, the only condition is this unit only attack ones in 2 rounds.

Analyzing Battle

The opponent uses Fernheart summoner which gives the opponent units a Close Range ability. As for the lineup of the opponent, it is quite questionable because the opponent Fungus Flinger is in the back position, maybe it thinks that I use an ability that has Fire and Regret, and I do not. I dominated the opponent in speed and damage difference. Let us see in the battle, that the opponent did well on putting up position and utilizing the use of Fernheart summoner Close Range ability.

Effective or not?

My strategy is quite effective in this battle reducing the opponent both speed and range damage giving me a high chance of winning though some of my attacks are missed because of the opponent's Blind ability of the Fungus flinger, and which maybe the reason the opponent puts this in a back position for utilizing Blind ability. I notice that Uloth Phampir is not in max level, If it is in max level I might lose in this battle considering that the units also lack some abilities, especially if the opponent has overpowered cards in terms of damage and tank because of the useful Abilities it has. Was lucky enough that it is not in the max level. Do you think I will win this battle if the opponent fully max-levels the cards? comment below who will win.
