#ThougfulDailyPost - Living Lies or Seizing the Moment?

Zekethoughts.jpg

Time to unpack a couple thoughtful sentiments from the internet! @Wesphilbin waves the flag for us and runs @thoughtfulposts as the curation account that rewards thoughtful posts. Please consider delegating if you are the thoughtful type and want to encourage people to share their positivity.

Here are a couple that made me pause, made me think a little, and motivated me to share with the world for #thoughtfuldailypost. Some classic music that goes along with thoughts and experiences.

Living a Lie

Oscar Wilde was a playwright in the 1800s and quite a sexual deviant at the time. Today, he might be accepted and celebrated but back then was criminally convicted of gross indecency for homosexual acts. Oh how things have changed. I wonder is his words still hold true a century and a quarter after his passing.

I swear I read this and assumed he might have been a revolutionary from the 60s. I dwell upon echo chambers collecting people of similar opinion simply for the connection and affinity. When I have convinced myself of something for convenience, trauma or denial of the harsh truth, there is a place on the internet where I will be welcomed by a legion of people who have conclusion shopped the same thing. I try not to accept this as truth simply because it is the truth I seek. Not an easy task.

How many times do we identify with an opinion from someone else and adopt that as our own? How many times have we chosen badly? An impulse thought a little further down the path and articulated in a way we relate to can be a cancer and we have no defense because we make them our opinion. Am I living a mimicry of a life because I have adopted another's opinion? Scary thought!

It is passion that is the powerful manifestation of will. I hope I have chosen my life and not adopted someone else's opinion to fuel my passion. If I have, I hope it is the right person and I have the strength and determination to always question my path.

My brain can't think of anything by Wild in the Streets by another Canadian band Helix.

The time is NOW!

I love me some Henry Rollins He is well-known as an American singer, writer, spoken word artist, actor, and presenter and I have had the chance to see him perform a few of those assorted roles. Like a punk visionary turned funny and relatable to every day Joes.

As we age, the concept dawns upon us that time is not eternal. We are not immortal. It is a heavy realization to accept then we have to decide what we do with that realization. If we have limited time, than spare time, free time, down time can indeed be interpreted as wasting a precious, scarce resource. Not a bad way to motivate yourself to action toward your goal or desired state!

As I boldly stride, fail and stay determined to succeed, I have come to not only enjoy downtime, spare time and free time. I am almost of the mind that the freedom of those things is the ultimate goal. That being my personal case, I know that pursuing those things singularly lead to less and less of it. 6 months of hard work, determination and will power can lead to years of freedom. This is what keeps me grinding and relishing the down time along the way.

Still, all we really have is our time and the ability to decide, moment to moment, how to spend that time. How we do determines the end and whether that end is worth sacrificing free, down and spare time. The time is now for action and adventure and I will accept intermittent gifts of freedom along the way.

This is where I picked up Henry Rollins. Plenty of awesome before with the Misfits and afterward with his solo stuff but this my Rollins jam!

This is the way. ;)

I like to check myself though and have found I do it more than I think. Best listen to smart people!

Thanks for inspiring us to be introspective and self-reflective Zeke. We are all a product of our learning and conditioning from parents and society. We all seem to be molded by nature and nurture. So who are we really?

Wow good question. Nature seems to be a slippery slope these days with how connected we are. Being thoughtful can help us be less of the warrior in the was but be the general!

Good thinking, we need to become the master of our minds, not the servant.

Very very inspiring brother, I think it's about choosing our path with passion, not just echoing others. Time isn't endless, so I'm learning to value each moment.

I think the older we get, the more we dwell upon that. Hopefully young enough to live our best lives.

I feel people who cannot stand on their own or are scared of what people will say about them are the ones who take other people’s opinions without placing them on a check
It’s good to be strong alone and always hold on to your opinions

Sometimes yes. We don’t have to reinvent the wheel or not respect a thought because someone else may have thought it first. Good to be a collection of conflicting thoughts to stay on our toes.
