Try your luck or be sure? How to spend your glints if you are starting in Splinterlands - Community Engagement Challenge (EN/ES).
Hi Splinterfam! Welcome to this post in response to the Splinterlands initiative called Community Engagement Challenge and which on this occasion proposes to talk about the best ways to take advantage of the reward token or Glints. So I want to focus this post mainly on new players who may feel overwhelmed with so much information and don't know where to start.
Que tal Splinterfam! Sean bienvenidos a este post atendiendo a la iniciativa de splinterlands con el nombre de Community Engagement Challenge y que en esta ocasión nos propone hablar de las mejores maneras de aprovechar el token de recompensa o Glints. Así que este post quiero enfocarlo principalmente a los nuevos jugadores que quizás con tanta información se vean abrumados y no sepan por donde empezar.
Que són los Glints?/What are Glints?
Glints are the reward token that we get with each victory in the ranked game, with them we can buy different objects in Gwen's store, from reward cards directly, chests, potions, energy, merits and titles. For this reason there are 2 things to take into consideration when farming this glint: rent sps and belong to a clan to increase the % of rewards, this way you can accumulate a large amount of glints in a short time.
Glints es el token de recompensa que obtenemos con cada victoria en el juego clasificatorio, con ellos podremos comprar distintos objetos en la tienda de Gwen, desde cartas rewards directamente, cofres, pociones, energia, méritos y titulos. Por esta razón hay 2 cosas a tener en consideración a la hora de farmear este glint: alquilar sps y pertenecer a un clan para aumentar el % de recompensas, de esta manera podrás acumular gran cantidad de glints en poco tiempo.
When you already have a good amount of Glints, the question always arises: what do I spend them on? If you are a new player in Splinterlands, it can be overwhelming to have so much information, skills, cards, editions, modern/wild format, rulesets, leagues that are "cosmetically" a quantity of information that can overwhelm us and lead to bad decisions. It is then necessary to have a clear idea of where to advance and what objects to buy. Let's start with the immediate: chests and cards.
Cuando ya se tiene una buena cantidad de Glints siempre surge la pregunta: en que los gasto? Si eres un jugador nuevo en Splinterlands puede resultar abrumador tanta información, habilidades, cartas ediciones, formato modern/wild, rulesets, ligas que están de forma "cosmética" una cantidad de información que puede abrumarnos y dar pie a malas decisiones. Se requiere entonces tener una idea clara de por donde avanzar y que objetos comprar. Comencemos por lo inmediato: los cofres y las cartas.
Chests & Cards: The fastest way to obtain objects to grow in the game/Cofres & Cartas: La forma más rápida de obtener objetos para crecer en el juego
Whether with chests or buying the cards directly, we will obtain our first useful objects that will help us progress and mature in the game, each of these options has its advantages and disadvantages. So far I have accumulated up to 50K glints, let's spend them on each of these options to evaluate the pros and cons of each option. Let's start with the chests.
Ya sea con cofres o comprando las cartas directamente obtendremos nuestro primeros objetos de utilidad que nos ayudarán a progresar y madurar en el juego, cada una de estas opciones tienes sus ventajas y desventajas. Hasta ahora he acumulado hasta 50K glints vamos a gastarlos en cada una de estas opciones para evaluar los pro y contras de cada opción. Comencemos por los cofres.
Minor chests: the most economically accessible option/Cofres menores: la opción económicamente más accesible
Los Loot Chest son simplemente una loteria donde puedes obtener cartas, méritos, energía y pociones. Existen 3 clases de cofres: menores, mayores y ultimate cada uno de mayor rareza y por supuesto de un costo mayor pero cuyas probabilidades de obtener un buen loot aumenta según su rareza.
Loot Chests are simply a lottery where you can obtain cards, merits, energy and potions. There are 3 types of chests: minor, major and ultimate, each of greater rarity and of course a higher cost but whose chances of obtaining a good loot increase according to their rarity.
So, what we will do is test these chests to find out firsthand whether or not it is worth buying them, we will start by buying 10 minor chests and then 10 major ones. I consider that you should start with these chests since their price is quite affordable for a player who is starting.
Entonces, lo que haremos será poner a prueba estos cofres para saber de primera mano si vale o no la pena comprarlos, empezaremos comprando 10 cofres menores y posteriormente con 10 mayores. Considero que se debe comenzar con estos cofres ya que su precio es bastante accesible para un jugador que esta comenzando.
These first chests were quite decent, 2 common cards, 2 rare ones, legendary/alchemy potions and several merits. Potions increase our chances of getting legendary or golden cards from these chests so we replenished some of the ones we used. Next up is trying out bigger chests, these chests mainly increase the % of getting a jackpot, that is, getting really rare items like a pack or a title from them. Let's see what they have for us.
Estos primeros cofres estuvieron bastante decentes, 2 cartas comunes, 2 raras, pociones legendarias/alquimia y varios méritos. Las pociones aumentan nuestras posibilidades de obtener cartas legendarias o doradas de estos cofres así que repusimos algunas de las que usamos. Lo siguiente es probar con cofres mayores, estos cofres incrementan principalmente el % de de obtener un jackpot es decir de conseguir objetos realmente raros como un pack o un título de ellos. Veamos que tienen para nosotros.

While the smaller chests gave us more cards, the larger chests gave us energy and a lot of merits, in fact with these merits we accumulated more than 2000, enough to buy 1 Gladius case + 5 Bloodstones.
Si bien los cofres menores nos dieron más cartas, los cofres mayores nos dieron energía y gran cantidad de méritos, de hecho con estos méritos acumulamos más de 2000, suficiente para comprar 1 Gladius case + 5 Bloodstones.

It was a normal Pack with 4 commons and a rare, but we added a very important gladius: Katrelba Gobson, which is for me one of the most powerful cards in the entire Gladius set.

Pros and Cons of Chests/Pro y Contras de los cofres
The advantages of opening chests are that you can replenish energy and potions that will allow you to continue playing and increase your chances of getting a legendary or golden card from the chests. The large amount of merits will occasionally allow you to buy a pack and add more cards to your collection.
A disadvantage is the fact that the high randomness of these chests can make your progress in the game slow since there will be many times when you will only get consumables from these chests such as energy, potions and merits. You will need to buy huge amounts of these chests to get good cards from them.
Las ventajas de abrir cofres es que puedes reponer energía y pociones que te permitirán continuar jugando e incrementar tus opciones de obtener una carta legendaria o dorada de los cofres. La gran cantidad de méritos ocasionalmente te permitirá comprar un pack y añadir más cartas a tu colección.
Como desventaja esta el hecho que la elevada aleatoriedad de estos cofres puede hacer que tu avance en el juego sea lento ya que habrá muchas ocasiones en las que solo obtendrán consumibles de estos cofres como energia, pociones y méritos. Necesitaras comprar cantidades enormes de estos cofres para obtener buenas cartas de ellos.
Cards: The certainty of a safe purchase/Tarjetas: La certeza de una compra segura
The other option accessible to those who are starting in Splinterlands, is to invest your glints directly in cards, since progressing in the game requires more and better cards since there are no league limits so you have to be constantly improving your deck with more varied and increasingly higher level cards. So it is best to start accumulating reward cards directly to be able to advance.
La otra opción accesible para aquellos que se inician en Splinterlands, es invertir tus glints directamente en cartas, ya que progresar en el juego requiere de más y mejores cartas en vista que no hay limitadores de ligas así que tienes que estar constantemente mejorando tu mazo con cartas más variadas y cada vez de mayor nivel. Entonces lo mejor es comenzar directamente acumular cartas rewards para poder avanzar.
The great advantage of buying the cards directly is that you can choose the rarity and the only thing that will vary is the type of splinter. Each rarity has a particular price, but if we are starting out, the ideal is with the common and rare cards since these cards are used more frequently than the epic and legendary ones, which in most cases are for very specific strategies.
La gran ventaja de comprar directamente las cartas es que puedes escoger la rareza y lo único que variará será el tipo de splinter. Cada rareza tiene un precio particular, pero si estamos comenzando lo ideal es con las cartas comunes y raras ya que estas cartas se usan con más frecuencias que las épicas y legendarias que en la mayoría de los casos son para estrategias muy específicas.
Revealing common & rare cards/Revelando cartas comunes y raras
In this context and to evaluate which option suits us best, we buy 10 common cards for 1500 Glints.
En este contexto y para evaluar que opción nos conviene más, compramos 10 cartas comunes por 1500 Glints.
If you look closely, unlike in chests, when revealing each card, you are getting 1 bcx, not like in chests where you can get up to 5 copies of a chest. Another detail is that in this case we only consume alchemy potions to increase the probability that the common card is gold.
Si te fijas bien a diferencia de los cofres al revelar cada carta es 1 bcx el que estas obteniendo, no como en los cofres donde puedes obtener hasta 5 copias de un cofre. Otro detalle es que en este caso solo consumimos pociones de alquimia para incrementar la probabilidad de que la carta común sea dorada.

Pros and Cons of the cards/Pro y Contras de las tarjetas
As you can see, with a few glints we have accumulated a large number of cards and we were even lucky that 2 of the rare cards were gold.
The disadvantage is that each revealed card counts as 1 bcx, meaning we cannot get more than one copy per draw, as happens when opening a chest.
Como desventaja cada carta revelada cuenta como 1 bcx, es decir no podremos obtener más de una copia por sorteo como sucede al abrir un cofre.
Quise enfocar esta perspectiva para aquellos que quieran comenzar a producir rápidamente en el juego, pero es comprensible que haya jugadores que le emocione más revelar los cofres y disfrutar la sensación de obtener un Jackpot.
Final conclusions and recommendations/Conclusiones finales y recomendaciones
As final words, my conclusion is that both options, chests or cards directly, are good opportunities to get useful rewards in the game, the difference lies in time. That is, if you are starting and want to progress quickly, my recommendation is to buy common/rare cards first and get them to a good level, then with a competent deck you can take the liberty of trying your luck opening chests.
Como palabras finales mi conclusión es que ambas opciones, cofres o directamente cartas son buenas oportunidades para conseguir recompensas útiles en el juego, la diferencia recae en el tiempo. Es decir, si estas comenzando y quieres progresar rápidamente mi recomendación es comprar cartas comunes/raras primeramente y llevarlas a un buen nivel, posteriormente con un mazo competente ya puedes tomarte la libertad de probar suerte abriendo cofres.
