Splinterlands - Water Melee Monsters (Weekly Battle)

image.png

This week the focus is on Water's Naga Warrior, but I do not own one. Therefore I will focus on something similar to Naga Warrior but different. I want to focus a battle using Water Melee attacking monsters. Here is my take with the use of Melee in Water Splinters.

The battle in focus was limited to 23 mana and had rule sets of Aim True and Up Close and Personal. This force me to have to choose only melee monsters. Now with all but Death splinter not allow to use in battle it seemed I should have lean toward fire or dragon since summoners Malric Inferno or Daria Dragonscale give melee bonus. I instead took a risk and went with water splinter since my collection in water was the strongest. I knew I would still be competitive with melee in water since my collection of water monsters were mostly higher than level 1.

Formations

I went with my only level 3 summoner in Arlic. At the front I had Sea Monster followed up by Wave Runner, Cocatrice , Ooze, Furious Chicken, and end with Feasting Seaweed. My opponent went with Daria and in the formation it was water splinter mix with dragon. Kraken lead as tanker followed by Manticore and ended with Battle Orca. What is a bit interesting is my opponent went with water splinter. What stood out at the start was my opponent's monsters were all level 1 while I had 4 monsters at level 3 and above.

Battle Results

From the start Kraken look like the solid tanker that he was even at level 1. By midway of round 2 my Sea Monster was knocked out. However by middle of round 3 my opponent's Kraken was knocked out.

Now it was five monsters against two. In round four my Wave Runner was knocked out but I return the favor by knocking out Manticore. There was now four against one with me having the advantage. Since my Cocatrice became the tanker by round 5 it help in being able to take damage from Battle Orca. This was very important as the Battle Orca basically would be able to knock out any one of my monsters with one hit.

My Ooze and Seaweed combined to give a one two melee attack on Orca and finished it off. All this within five rounds.

Conclusions

I know Arlic is most beneficial when used with magic monsters but since I do not have another water summoner I went with the selection. What I also had in my favor was my leveled up monsters. This is an example of the importance of leveling summoners and monsters to provide the higher stats to compete. It also shows that even if it appears at first a disadvantage the leveled up monsters can level the playing field with the fact that they have better stats than my opponent.
