Staking SPT and still getting SPS airdrop. Clarification for @seamoose

Well Seamoose you asked so here is your longer answer :)

Congratulations on getting those SPT but now your problem is what do you do with them and do they count towards SPS airdrop.

First: They Absolutely count. However, they don't count 1:1, they count 1:4. As you can see I got 2,514 airdrop points which means I should have 10,056 SPT. As you can see I don't have quite that amount but close within a rounding error for airdrop calculation.

I have 3 choices on what to do with them then.

  1. Stake them!
  2. Convert them!
  3. Delegate them!

If you Stake them then every time you upvote someone's post your vote will add to their reward for making the post and you will get a reward for the upvote. The reward is split 50:50

As you can see your vote is already worth 0.004951 on anything you upvote even your own posts

BUT
If I was to convert my 10056 SPT I would get roughly 8000 DEC and that counts 1:1 so I'd get almost 3x the SPS in the airdrop. If you aren't curating then convert is the way to go. Personally I hope you curate so you can add value to all your fellow guildmembers posts :)

However, if you want to get those curation rewards and don't want to buy the DEC there is the third option.

You can stake the SPT and then DELEGATE them to a delegation service like the monster-curator. The Monster curator will actively look for good posts to upvote and then give you your reward at the end of the day. No work involved by you.

AND delegated SPT still count for those SPS airdrop points!

@terganmarket has :

IF you decide to delegate your stake to someone please follow this important step
.....
STAKE TO YOUR OWN ACCOUNT FIRST!!!
.....
Then delegate after.

If you stake to the @monster-curator. Well then you just gave the monster curator all your SPT and you'll be very sad.

Thanks for these very clear instructions! It looks like holding DEC is still the most effective way to get airdrop points, but I like the option to delegate SPT to help out Splinterlands bloggers, while still earning SPT and getting 1:4 SPS airdrop points for every SPT!

There's actually one little extra trick to getting the most from your DEC. After you get the SPS from the airdrop you can link the SPS and DEC in the tribaldex liquidity pool. Usually SPS doesn't count towards the airdrop but if its in a liquidity pool both the SPS and DEC both count.

So, you turn a non-counting asset (SPS) into a counting asset :)

How can I get the SPT?

You already did without knowing it :)

Whenever you post on splintertalk and someone who has staked SPT upvotes it you will get SPT. I clicked like to your 'how do you get SPT" and you'll see 2.053 SPT beside the post. In a week you'll get half (1.026 SPT) and I'll get half.

It's only a penny but Hey, its the one time the term "penny for your thoughts" is actually valid :)

Have a great day.
