Let me tell you a story, said the Silvershield Bard... (Splinterlands weekly battle challenge)

What is Splinterlands?

Splinterlands is a card game, similar with Hearthstone, where you can play battle against other players to get a better rank or in tournaments. It is a NFT game based on Hive Blockchain, but the crypto rewards (DEC is the name of their native token) can be used on ETH, TRX, WAX and on the lately added Binance Smart Chain (you can provide liquidity to mine CUB on Cub Finance). You can also provide liquidity on ETH network, but this is a bit more expensive, even if you get some Uniswap bonus in DEC paid straight to your game account (I got 3-4000 DEC monthly with around 60K DEC providing liquidity). DEC is similar with a stablecoin, most of the time, 1000 DEC being $1.

And now it is easier than before (one of my main complain was about beginners not having enough cards at the start) because they offer quite a lot of cards not to the one starting to play, making it a more pleasant experience - I remember losing game after game when I just started 7 month ago, so I am glad that the developers sorted this out. There are big changes and improvements coming soon, according to the Hive rumor mill.

On this week challenge we have a Rare Reward card from the Life Splinter with 1 Melee Attack, 3 Health at max level, Cleanse at level 1 (Removes all negative effects from main tank) and Swiftness at level 5 (Increases all your team members speed). This is a must have card, providing huge benefits for just 1 Mana cost. It is very useful on Poison ruleset, keeping the main tank alive, but please do not use it on Reverse Rulesets, when the extra speed will give your opponent the advantage. You can buy a level 5 Silvershield Bard with just 5-6$, and it is totally worth the investment. If you combine it with the Spirit Miner, you will have a very, very fast team.

So, for the challenge, this were the starting conditions:

Mana Limit: 38

Rulesets: Heavy Hitters (All cards have Knock Out)

Teams:

Mine - Summoner: Tyrus (+1 Armor to all), Shieldbearer, Silvershield Bard, Silvershield Assasin, Tortisian Chief, Billa the Radiant, Lunakari Misstress

Opponent - Summoner: Tyrus (+1 Armor to all), Warrior of Peace, Silvershield Knight, Sandworm, Silvershield Assasin, Ferral Spirit, Divine Healer

I used the Shieldbearer as main tank, supported by one healer (the Chief), and the Bard to use cleanse in the event of Poison. Silvershield Assasin to kill the back troups, and three magic users for damage, to bypass an eventual Armor Boost. The opponent went for a combined Melee boost, Snipe and Sneak attack.

I was lucky to kill his healer early, as it was the last position, and then i had a bit of work with his Warrior of Peace suppressing my Assassin. I lost my tank, Bard and Lunakari Mistress to his assassin and Sandworm, but then Billa survived thanks to the life leech, and I managed to kill the rest of his team. He would have had a change if his healer was properly positioned and protected.

On the side note, my continuous support for Splintertalk.io is going well, with my SPT tokens number raising a bit over half a million. 77% of my target reached and hopefully the 1 million will be done in few months. All of it is delegated to @monster-curator, as this account is doing a great work curating the best posts on the forum. bottom spt.png

All the best,
