Battle Mage Secrets: Maneuvers - Sniping Behind A Tank

Hi all, hope all is well for you and it is time for another Battle Mage Secrets. Last week, we looked a ruleset that that didn't allow us to use cards that comes with a purple cloud. Today, we look at a not so new Ruleset which was introduced not too long ago and it is quite an interesting ruleset.

Maneuvers

Description:

• Units with melee attacks gain Reach.
• Armored Strike is a melee attack.
• Sneak and opportunity override reach.

What thrives with this ruleset?
Like I mentioned above, this is an interesting ruleset because it only applies to melee cards and only in effect when the melee card reaches the second position. But still, it is still good because it gives chances for strong melee cards with no reach, sneak or opportunity the capability to attack when deep in the lineup.

Many a times, whenever we try to plant melee cards, we always worry they got no chance to attack because they do not possess any special abilities to allow them to hit. But with this ruleset, it totally change the dimension of things. Cards like Arkemis The Bear can even hit from 2nd position to do big damage.

With this, the best thing to do is to hit a hard hitting card behind a good tank to capitalize of this ruleset that gave the reach.

On the defence, Demoralize, Protect and Shield will do you well because they reduce the effectiveness of melee. Thorns is also good since more cards will attempt to hit you and get hurt themselves.

Stats wise, since it affects melee, additional melee attack will be good, armour for defence and also some speed to reduce chances of getting hit.

With these in mind, let's start to talk about the battle proper.

Kelya Frendul	4	Summoner	Favourite Water Summoner that gives extra speed and extra armour.
Diemonshark	8	1st	Fast, thick and loads of armour. One of the better tanks for Water Splinter.
Coastal Sentry	10	2nd	The card that benefit the most from this ruleset. An amazing melee card that has high attack and double strike
Deeplurker	6	3rd	Opportunity card that can hit really good from wherever in the lineup
Isgald Vorst	5	4th	Another opportunity card that even carries a Blood Lust to make it grow bigger when it lands a killing blow.
Swamp Spitter	7	5th	Important card that repairs armour and help any card in the lineup to replenish the armour
Venari Marksrat	3	6th	This is placed at the end as a padding for Swamp Spitter and I was half guessing that it will get killed and Swamp Spitter gets a martyr boost.

Prediction before pressing rumble
Wow, I am up against Gobson family. My opponent fielded 3 Gobsons and all are equally strong especially Katrelba which I know how it is able to terrorize lineup from the back. However, one thing that my opponent never did was to capitalize the ruleset. But from the way my opponent planned, he should be very certain that even without the ruleset, he will be able to defeat me. Nevertheless, two different lineups, let's see how comes up on tops.

Battle Synopsis

Round 1, Another fast paced match where one within a first turn, Terraceous Grunt even with dodge was smashed by Swamp Spitter while opponent's Katrelba took out my Marksrat and grew, and at the same time, Swamp Spitter gain martyr.

Round 2, Things went even fast, Diemonshark trampled through Fungus Flinger onto Betrol Gobson. Swamp Spitter smashes Betrol, Coastal Sentry smashes Katelba, Isgald smashed Dumacke Orc and Deeplurker lands a coup de grace to finish off the final Gobson Bomber to secure the win just in a matter of 2 rounds with everyone relatively unscathed.

Post Battle Summary
That is real fast and really effective in terms of the fight. Every card was instrumental and land heavy blows on my opponent. With the ruleset, it really helped to accelerate loads of stuff.

Did my strategy work? Yes absolutely. I am so glad everything went as planned. With my lineup planned to have everyone contribute in the fight, the whole match went really fast in completion. This is the ruleset designed for Coastal Sentry, contributing double strikes of 3 damage each is really great. What's more, it can hide behind Diemonshark which is able to give it the cover it needed. The other 2 opportunist just wreck havoc throughout the lineup and bring victory. Swamp Spitter was all important with its hits and also the repair onto anyone whom needed the repair.

What's the Battle Mage Secret?

The Battle Mage Secret today for me is really to plant your big attackers whom do not have sneak, opportunity or reach behind your tank to make use of the tank to hold the front while you have the luxury of smashing things at the comfort of the 2nd position. And even when your tank fall, you probably would have already done sufficient damage everywhere for you to win the game with a breeze. And you can see from today's battle sharing how Coastal Sentry was able to just wreck opponent frontline easily with Diemonshark providing cover for it. So when this ruleset appears, remember to place such double attackers or other big damage cards behind the tank to get value and win you the match.
