My Road to 100k SPS Staked: Completed! + Considerations on Bots and on Cards of Past Editions
I became a Splinterlands player in September 2019 and to date I have played:
- 25558 battles in the Wild Format
- 9023 battles in the Modern Format
Out of curiosity, I entered the date I started playing on Splinterlands and today's date into an excel sheet and then did a simple subtraction to count the days that have passed to date: 1751 days.
I added up the battles I played in the Modern Format and the Wild Format (=34581) and then divided the total number of battles by 1751 and got the result of 19.74.
In almost five years I have played an average of 19.74 game battles per day and I have never used bots or battle helpers because Splinterlands has always been my favorite blockchain game and I have always enjoyed playing the battles.
Over the years there have been so many changes in the structure of the game and so many changes in the dynamics of the game.
There have been right choices and wrong choices in my opinion.
For example the long tolerance for bots and bot-farms was an extremely wrong choice in my view because the pillars of any game are the real players and bots eliminate the fun for real players...
Despite some errors along the way Splinterlands is still Hive's top game and is also the most complete and structured game on Hive in my opinion.
So many other blockchain-based games that were born after Splinterlands have either disappeared or have very few active players.
Splinterlands, even though it is more than six years old, has a fun card strategy game at its base, and this is its main strength
Splinterlands also has a good active player base but it also has problems to solve.
The main current problems to be solved are, in my opinion, two:
- the bots in the Wild Format
- the excessive decrease in the value of cards from the editions prior to the Rebellion set.
The problem of bots in the Wild Format is easily solved because it is enough to eliminate them and I still don't understand why it is not done immediately...
The problem of the decreasing value of cards of editions prior to the Rebellion set is not easily solved but it is an important problem to solve because if cards of early editions continue to lose value compared to cards of newer editions it will mean that the desire and incentive to buy future new cards and packs will continue to decrease.
In fact, it is no coincidence that the only card packs that have an estimated value above the price on Hive Engine are the Chaos Legion packs and the Rebellion packs that contain cards that can be used in the Modern Format.
The recently introduced Wild Pass has not produced the hoped-for or announced benefits and I explained the reasons in my previous post.
The Wid Pass has certainly decreased the number of bots in the Wild Format but it has also garnered the displeasure of many real players who play in the Wild Format and, more negatively, it has also contributed to even more penalizing cards usable only in the Wild Format that continue to lose value compared to cards usable in the Modern Format.
The Alpha, Beta, Untamed, ... need new use cases otherwise when and if the new set of cards comes out there will be fewer and fewer buyers!
I for example have always been much more focused on the cards useful in battle rather than the other assets of Splinterlands but for the past few months and in the current situation before I buy or upgrade a card I have to evaluate my choice very well before making it....
I hope that Splinterlands will solve these problems in the short term otherwise I do not see very positive medium to long term prospects...
Closing this parenthesis of personal considerations about my favorite blockchain-based game today I am happy to share the achievement of a goal related to SPS tokens that I had set for myself a long time ago.
Over the years I have always had growth goals on Splinterlands, and in recent months my main goals have always been two:
- Play in Modern Format's Gold+ leagues from the beginning to the end of the playing seasons.
- Surpass 100K SPS staked.
In a span of a few days I achieved both of these two goals because:
In the last completed season of Splinterlands I made it to the Gold I league in the Modern Format.
Two days ago I reached and exceeded my goal for SPS tokens: 100K SPS staked.
Today, July 5, 2024, the value of 1 SPS is $0.005962.
Exactly one month ago (June 5, 2024) 1 SPS was worth 0.01122$
On June 5, 2024 I had 98123 SPS staked while today I have 100403 SPS staked.
This means that in one month I have earned +2280 SPS = $13.59 = $0.45 per day.
Even though the value of SPS tokens has decreased a lot in the last thirty days I consider this gain a good gain because I got it by playing and having fun because playing on Splinterlands I enjoy it.
Now that I have reached my accumulation goal I have to decide whether to use the surplus to buy more Splinterlands assets or set a higher goal.
I haven't decided yet but most likely I will set a higher accumulation goal for SPS tokens also because based on the current value of the SPS token and considering that the cards continue to lose value it is my only option at the moment.
Even though SPS tokens have experienced a decrease in value they continue to have many use cases in game but also outside of Splinterlands play.
In fact thanks to my staked SPS tokens I can claim the COLONY tokens that are distributed daily via airdrop to SPS stakeholders and GLX stakeholders.
Just today I made the claim of the COLONY tokens at https://www.arcadecolony.com/token/colony
I am also a liquidity provider in the pool PKM:SPS in which I have a 0.103% share and I get a daily gain in DEC, SPS, PKM and VOUCHER tokens.
Another use case of SPS tokens that I consider very important to me is the possibility of voting Proposals and Draft Proposals.
Before concluding the writing of this post I want to share my latest upgrade goal that I completed: VRUZ!
Three days ago my purchase offer for 179 BCX of VRUZ was completed and I was finally able to upgrade to the maximum level.
Prior to the creation of my Bid purchase I had Vruz at level 6 while I now have Vruz at level 8 who, with the acquisition of the True Strike ability, will always strike the opposing card he attacked and for this reason will be an even more useful card for me in my ranked battles in Modern Format.
In the next image you can see one of my recent battles in which I used VRUZ of level 8 which was very useful in battle because thanks to the True Strike ability it reduced the life points of two cards with high speed (Pelacor Conjurer and Naga Assassin) which are cards that have a high probability of dodging attacks.

Sono diventato un giocatore di Splinterlands nel mese di settembre 2019 e fino ad oggi ho giocato:
- 25558 battaglie nel Wild Format
- 9023 battaglie nel Modern Format
Per curiosità ho inserito in un foglio excel la data in cui ho iniziato a giocare su Splinterlands e la data odierna e poi ho fatto una semplice sottrazione per contare i giorni che sono passati fino ad oggi: 1751 giorni.
Ho sommato le battaglie che ho giocato nel Modern Format e nel Wild Format (=34581) e poi ho diviso il numero totale di battaglie per 1751 e ho ottenuto il risultato di 19.74.
In quasi cinque anni ho giocato una media di 19.74 battaglie di gioco al giorno e non ho mai usato bots o battle helpers perchè Splinterlands è stato sempre il mio gioco blockchain preferito e mi sono sempre divertito a giocare le battaglie.
In questi anni si sono susseguiti tanti cambiamenti nella struttura del gioco e tanti cambiamenti nelle dinamiche di gioco.
Ci sono state scelte giuste e scelte sbagliate secondo me.
Ad esempio la lunga tolleranza verso i bots e le bot-farms è stata una scelta estremamente sbagliata secondo il mio punto di vista perchè i pilastri di ogni gioco sono i giocatori reali e i bots eliminano il divertimento per i giocatori reali...
Nonostante alcuni errori di percorso Splinterlands è ancora il gioco di punta di Hive ed è anche il gioco più completo e più strutturato presente su Hive secondo me.
Tanti altri giochi basati su blockchain sono spariti oppure hanno pochissimi giocatori attivi.
Splinterlands, anche se ha più di sei anni di vita, ha un gioco di strategia di carte divertente alla base e questo è il suo principale punto di forza
Splinterlands ha anche una buona base di giocatori attivi ma ha anche dei problemi da risolvere.
I principali problemi attuali da risolvere sono, secondo me, due:
- i bots nel Wild Format
- l'eccessiva diminuzione del valore delle carte delle edizioni precendenti al set Rebellion
Il problema dei bots nel Wild Format è facilmente risolvibile perchè è sufficiente eliminarli e continuo a non capire perchè non lo si fa immediatamente...
Il problema della diminuzione del valore delle carte delle edizioni precendenti al set Rebellion non è facilmente risolvibile ma è un problema importante da risolvere perchè se le carte delle prime edizioni continuano a perdere valore rispetto alle carte delle edizioni più recenti vorrà dire che continuerà a diminuire la voglia e l'incentivo di acquistare le future nuove carte e i futuri nuovi pacchi di carte.
Non è un caso infatti che gli unici pacchi di carte che hanno un valore stimato superiore al prezzo su Hive Engine sono i pacchi Chaos Legion e i pacchi Rebellion che contengono carte utilizzabili nel Modern Format.
Il Wild Pass introdotto di recente non ha prodotto i benefici sperati o annunciati e ho spiegato i motivi nel mio precedente post.
Il Wid Pass ha certamente diminuito il numero dei bots nel Wild Format ma ha anche raccolto il malcontento di molti giocatori reali che giocano nel Wild Format e, cosa ancora più negativa, ha anche contribuito a penalizzare ancora di più le carte utilizzabili solo nel Wild Format che continuano a perdere valore rispetto alle carte utilizzabili nel Modern Format.
Le carte Alpha, Beta, Untamed, ... hanno bisogno di nuovi casi d'uso altrimenti quando e se uscirà il nuovo set di carte ci saranno sempre meno acquirenti!
Io ad esempio sono stato sempre molto più focalizzato sulle carte utili in battaglia piuttosto che sugli altri assets di Splinterlands ma da qualche mese a questa parte e nella situazione attuale prima di acquistare o fare l'upgrade di una carta devo valutare molto bene la mia scelta prima di farla....
Spero che Splinterlands risolva questi problemi nel breve periodo altrimenti non vedo prospettive molto positive di medio lungo periodo...
Chiusa questa parentesi di considerazioni personali sul mio gioco basato su blockchain preferito oggi sono felice di condividere il raggiungimento di un obiettivo relativo ai token SPS che mi ero posto tanto tempo fa.
In questi anni ho avuto sempre degli obiettivi di crescita su Splinterlands e negli ultimi mesi i miei due obiettivi principali sono sempre stai due:
- Giocare nelle leghe Gold+ del Modern Format dall'inizio alla fine delle stagioni di gioco
- superare i 100K SPS staked
A distanza di pochi giorni ho raggiunto entrambi questi due obiettivi perchè:
Nell'ultima stagione conclusa di Splinterlands sono arrivato in lega Gold I nel Modern Format.
Due giorni fa ho raggiunto e superato il mio obiettivo per i token SPS: 100K SPS staked.
Oggi 5 luglio 2024 il valore di 1 SPS è 0.005962$.
Esattamente un mese fa (5 giugno 2024) 1 SPS valeva 0.01122$
Il 5 giugno 2024 avevo 98123 SPS staked mentre oggi ho 100403 SPS staked.
Questo vuol dire che in un mese ho guadagnato +2280 SPS = 13.59$ = 0.45$ per day
Anche se il valore dei token SPS è diminuito molto negli ultimi trenta giorni considero questo guadagno un buon guadagno perchè l'ho ottenuto giocando e divertendomi perchè giocare su Splinterlands mi piace.
Adesso che ho raggiunto il mio obiettivo di accumulo devo decidere se utilizzare il surplus per acquistare altri assets di Splinterlands o se fissare un obiettivo più alto.
Non ho ancora deciso ma con molta probabilità fisserò un obiettivo di accumulo più alto per i token SPS anche perchè in base all'attuale valore del token SPS e considerando che le carte continuano a perdere valore è la mia unica opzione al momento.
Anche se i token SPS hanno registrato una diminuzione di valore continuano ad avere molti casi d'uso in game ma anche al di fuori del gioco di Splinterlands.
Infatti grazie ai miei token SPS staked posso fare il claim dei token COLONY che sono distribuiti giornalmente tramite airdrop agli SPS stakeholders e agli GLX stakeholders.

Tre giorni fa la mia offerta di acquisto per 179 BCX di VRUZ è stata completata e ho potuto finalmente fare l'upgrade al livello massimo.
Prima della creazione della mia offerta di acquisto Bid avevo Vruz al livello 6 mentre ora ho Vruz al livello 8 che, con l'acquisizione dell'abilità True Strike, colpirà sempre la carta avversaria da lui attaccata e per questo motivo sarà una carta ancora più utile per me nelle mie battaglie nelle ranked battles nel Modern Format.
Nell'immagine seguente puoi vedere una delle mie recenti battaglie in cui ho utilizzato VRUZ di livello 8 che è stato molto utile in battaglia perchè grazie all'abilità True Strike ha ridotto i punti vita di due carte con alta velocità (Pelacor Conjurer e Naga Assassin) che sono carte che hanno un alta probabilità di schivare gli attacchi.

Ogni gioco che permette l'acquisto di NFT e di token non è mai un semplice gioco ma è anche un investimento e come tale deve sempre essere considerato.

Si ma ne sta scomparendo uno: il mercato. Praticamente azzerati gli ordini d'acquisto degli SPS: nessuno li vuol più comprare. Quindi se la situazione permane il prezzo precipiterà.
Qualche tempo fa dissi che forse l'unica cosa che potevo desiderare era che i prezzi delle carte diventasse così basso da poterle comprare praticamente gratis. Così il gioco, se riusciva a sopravvivere, sarebbe stato un free play. Non è molto lontano che accada. A quel punto la domanda diventa: ma sopravviverà?

Penso che su Hive Engine e Tribaldex ci sia qualche errore di visualizzazione nella sezione Buy orders anche perchè le due offerte di acquisto sono sono superiori alle richieste di vendita e dovrebbero essere in automatico passare e invece sono ferme li.
Tra l'altro il volume di scambio nelle 24 ore è di 11K$ e anche i token di giochi che hanno volume di scambio = 0$ hanno più offerte di acquisto
Come prova ho fatto un offerta di acquisto inferiore alle due offerte di acquisto presenti e il mio ordine è stato subito preso mentre quelle due offerte sono ancora lì

quello è un problema che Hive Engine ha da tantissimo tempo. L'avevo già sperimentato tantissime volte. Quei due ordini d'acquisto sono "fasulli". Sono "residui" di ordini chiusi, per importi frazionali che il sistema non è in grado di gestire. Dopo un po' credo che facciano pulizia e gli ordini di quel tipo spariscono. Accade anche quando ci sono tanti ordini nel book che rimangano ordini residuali di quel tipo, solo che ci si fa meno caso.
Ma il punto non sono quei due ordini sbagliati. Il punto è che, a parte quei due che non contano, NON CI SONO altri ordini in acquisto. Nessuno vuol comprare SPS.
Il sistema funziona: infatti il tuo ordine è stato preso regolarmente in carico. E' proprio che non ci sono compratori per SPS. Ed è ovvio che se la situazione persiste il prezzo crollerà. I tempi in cui SPS era molto liquido e quindi facilmente transabile sembrano finiti. E non è un bel segno.
No amico mio non è così, un volume alto non può avere 0 ordini di acquisto o meglio può averli ma è altamente improbabile.
Hive Engine non visualizza gli ordini in acquisto tranne quei due ma gli ordini ci sono.
Oggi ho fatto un'offerta molto bassa che è attiva.
Ma come puoi vedere la mia offerta per quanto bassa non è presente tra gli ordini di acquisto ;)
Vero @libertycrypto27. Non è lo stesso fenomeno che vedevo ai tempi di Rabona.
In effetti c'è qualcosa che non va. Ho immesso un ordine di vendita di 1 SPS a 0.01000000 ed è stato coperto da un acquisto a 0.03269913 che nel book non si vedeva.
Ho fatto la prova di mettere in vendita un altro SPS a 0.03300000 e quello compare regolarmente nel book.
Quindi i nuovi ordini compaiono se in vendita ma non compaiono se in acquisto. Un bel problema che si aggiunge per SPS

Anche su Beewap gli ordini di acquisto sono mostrati ma su Hive Engine ancora no. Sarà un problema temporaneo o un problema dovuto al nodo attivo e cambiando nodo potrebbe essere risolto
Cmq un'alternativa a HE e Tribal è https://beeswap.dcity.io/tokens/SPS, le operazioni di staking e unstaking sono molto più veloci mentre per piazzare gli ordini preferisco HE o Tribal

I think splinterlands needs to attract new users and retain them. As it is right now, there isn't much demand for the cards and I agree that the Wild pass has kind of decreased value on the older cards. I don't like the wild pass because I don't think it solves the bot issue once and for all.
Congratulations on maxing out your VRUZ, what a beast.
I think I also cannot splinterlands feels that they're benefiting from the economy of the bots and hence they don't want to run the bots while preventing the bot owners from over-farming and dumping SPS on the market. SPS needs a lot of redemption and I feel the splinterlands INC needs to pull the rabbit out of the hat
