Crypto December and some thoughts for 2022!
Wow! It is already a new year with new possibilities within the crypto sphere – can’t wait for this year to kick ass everywhere in life! This year I will most likely reach my goal to buy a unit for my family as well, would be outstanding! And here at Hive as well, by “starring” at all of the projects that have been and are yet to come there is nothing else to say than; “This will be prosperous”!
However, it was a turbulent December within the crypto market. Me and many others did see some halving’s in different tokens, especially Splinterlands, which is of course difficult, I must admit. My assets where worth 3 times more in November than now in January… But to be honest, I do not care that much about the price now, I am here to stay and enjoy the mechanism behind everything that Splinterlands provide. When it comes to Bitcoin (BTC) it actually dropped around 19%, and that is the largest monthly loss since May, and it was also its worst December since 2013 so I do not know what to think about this. I will buy more BTC, muha! Despite all of this it still had a 60% YOY (Year over Year), which is incredible compared to other instruments return.
Most of the cryptocurrencies lost some value in December, especially tokens… This is in addition to the weak development we have seen since the last peak in November, which make me think about a bear market to come. Worth mention is that there are many that uses December to rebalance their portfolio and secure some profits. When you think about that BTC is up 60% YOY I would bet that there are many professionals that want to secure such gains – it is incredible.
NFTs
Ubisoft, which creates high-quality games that resonate with all kinds of personalities decided to enter the NFT area in early December. As one of the largest gaming companies their entry to the NFT world could have some impact on how the rest of the gaming industry relates to the new technology. The NFTs where sold out instantly, so I did not get the chance to get one myself. However, their entry did meet some criticism, so we will wait and see how it goes.
There was, however, an NFT entry that was very successful. Yes, I am talking about Adidas. The company did put out 29,000 NFTs on the market! These NFTs gives the owner the right to exchange the NFT in various clothes, during the year 2022 – how awesome is not that!? This did get very good feedback from the community but again I did not manage to get one since they slipped through my fingers yet again… Anyways I believe that the “stunt” of Ubisoft and Adidas will attract even more companies that is gaming related, and clothing related for the coming years. It's all about how to build your own unique identity digitally, in almost the same line as you have in the real world. This is really where NFTs can prove to have their greatest use. It is only the matter of time before we see other clothing companies and gaming companies follow in the footsteps of Adidas and Ubisoft! It is very exciting to follow every day, it is like it is hard to get to sleep, lol!
2022 thoughts!
So, the year 2021 was very good, we all did see and understand that. But what is very wonderful to think about now is that it is now we really start to see the beginning of a huge adoption in many different areas within the crypto sphere. When you see, huge multinational companies are starting to join this universe we should start to take this for real. More and more have found that they need this technology to stay alive in the future. One of the companies that have understood this at its best is Meta (Facebook) and the community Hive - who will dominate metaverse in its early stages!? 2022 will be exciting, I will enjoy every day and as I learn more!
I also want to make a comment on NFTs because this is something I believe we really need to pay attention to now. This technology is still in its baby steps, and we have probably not seen a fraction of the use cases yet. With new scaling solutions for several blockchains, it can open completely new areas of use. We cannot exclude that everything from ownership of homes, boats, cars, and the like will be converted into NFTs in the future.

My thinking is that I now look at my primary investments in the space purely as income-generating assets.
Short term price swings aren't something I really look at, because I'm purely focused on building an asset base that will generate an income further down the line.
For me, we're nowhere near the level of mass adoption that we're going to see in the future and therefore I see price as having a TON of room to run.
I don't want to sell anything within the Hive ecosystem right now, because even the all time high prices we just saw, aren't anywhere near as high as we will likely see, if/when the network reaches its potential.
Anyway, just a few of my thoughts and all the best for hitting those goals with your fam :)
