Shall i become an Orca again on Hive?
Back on Hive or not?
Interesting to see I got back again some Hive which could make me an Orca again on this chain - for now these are liquid Hive only.
A rollercoaster since over 8 years now - I actually put all my previous Hive / Steem into Splinterlands - now it goes back the other way - sad to see prizes going down across the entire ecosystem.
Not sure if I try to sell these Hive or to a PowerUp again. Any advise @steevc @detlev ? A lot people tell me I would be an idiot to powerup again but I am here since nearly the beginning - so there are bonds.
If I do it might be good for certain areas
Such as:
- my @music-community
- having a bit more power to counter stuff
- reward good content as in the past
- maybe re-vamp some of my old contests and initiatives around #music #photography or #sports
But I am still insecure.

With a heavy heart I decided to powerup a bit at least to get back into this Orca range, not all - maybe i will regret this financially but hope the remaining community is as cool as it has been before.
But what would the downside be of being an Orca? Less votes from other orca's or what? Sorry Ive been here a long time but I dont really know all of the politics

The same people who want stuff out of this place and disagree with how things are going are often the same who'll say HP holders are "idiots" or not doing the right thing. I think that's normal though. It boils down to one wanting control, feeling powerless, so they must compensate by acting hard. Just people being people.
If neighbors each have an orchard but one cuts theirs down for firewood, they will forever be resentful of the continuous harvest next door, and boast about their heat, even if they're hungry, because it's all they have to be proud of.

It's only 100k and you're only one human. Best to listen to yourself. That's all you're in control of anyway. 100 with 1000HP each has the same, yet that would be 100 more people around enjoying and supporting the show, making a bigger impact due to their numbers.
Unfortunately several from that group would look around, see people with more, and feel inadequate. They'd even have people calling them "small fish" and whatever else which is dehumanizing and uninviting on top of that. If they're concerned about status and their image, that would be demoralizing internally but look different on the outside.
Can you imagine how lively this small town would be with 100000 people all with 1000HP each roaming around enjoying the music for example and just having fun rather than posting? Can you see how that would improve things? Yet even the smallest amount per individual yielding a large impact like that, is discouraged. For the most part, people do that to themselves. But they also have peers saying it would be idiotic. And they also feel like if they're not earning as much as their neighbor, they're doing something wrong, and don't want to be seen in that light. I personally believe people shouldn't be concerned with that nonsense and just enjoy themselves but after 8 years, that culture is tough to break through.
Anyway. That's my answer. It's your call. You're only one "orca" and it boils down to personal choices. Not my job to tell you yes, or no. If you want to help and contribute, then do so. If not, then don't.
Thanks for such a well-.thought and well written answer - agree with a lot - times have changed and ideally we create an environment everyone feels equally welcomed and appreciated no amtter what stake they have - also would love smaller hurdles to start (still). Hope the small town will someday ( I might now be alive then) become a capital for crypto vision.

Times certainly have changed. 8 years is a long while. In life, some things never change and everywhere one goes, a supportive audience always plays the most important role. And the people sitting in the cheap seats always make up the majority. They also make the most noise, having a good time.
Often, that's what is missing here. As soon as people catch on, we'll have "mass adoption." Not everyone can be an artist but that never stops them from enjoying the arts. Not everyone can be a reporter but that never stops people from watching the news. Not everyone can be a teacher but that never stops people from wanting to learn.
This tech protects our history in all those fields, and more.
That's why I stick around. I truly believe someday, this will all come together.
As long as the tribe can stop fighting over petty things, like who took the most beads, it has a strong chance of happening. Time to focus on reality and be real.

If you have no monetary issues, power up should be good for the medium term and possibly long term. I wish I had the money for investing in passive income. Unless there’s world war soon, it wouldn’t be advisable to power up all that much!
good points - world war would make no difference then I fear :-). My concern only: Been poweredup - decided for other project on Hive - lost a lot, now i consider going back to my roots
well it's a personal decision, it depends if you believe in Hive or not. you could start with a Power UP of 50% and understand if you want to continue or not.
Agreed to such an approach - I am here since over 8 years and saw things come and go - at least we still have a community (maybe smaller, certain good guys left, bad guys joined) but there is still hope.
@claudio83 - in terms of believe - I totally believe the chain is way better in terms of a lot tech things vs others but no one knows it, that is the issue - we need these corporate to jump on here and create a perfect use case why Hive is much better for businesses compared to ETH and others :-)

Same here - I do not see potential for 1 USD, i only trust Hive as such way more as I have remaining faith into Splinterlands (that trust has been gone) - we lack some key marketing things i mentioned too often so I will stop now to write about wrong branding and.....lala. Good to see also you as an OG still being active - seems the Brits are way more confident and committed vs other folks - ok just see you @steevc or @revisesociology (apologies if I mixed up things with the UK / GB or the empire lol or irgnore others).
And to another note (one of your posts re milking) if i would powerup again I would not be considered as a milker maybe when I post (that did hurt me a bit to read) to be honest, especially as some people lost HP but like me all pumped this into a certain game on the Hive chain so I not see this as powering down and extracting - some have different views of course.
The only time I powered down was for 'a certain game on the Hive chain' too, and I have never stopped voting your stuff. That post.., I regret ever doing it, should have kept my ideas to myself.

It seems like THEMARKYMARK is dealing with some personal drama and mental issues, which might be causing them to spam us and others with baby pics, GIFs, and questionable content he's been doing the same for years. It's a personal choice. I just think that my curation can do some good so I'll keep doing it. I still believe that Hive could be great for musicians. There is the factor that I can earn a fair bit just by curating, but for now that just means I will have even more HP. I do not desperately need the money and the price is not tempting me to cash out.
Hive desperately needs active people, so I hope you stick around.
I hope it could become great, not onyl for musicians, not convinced it will ever as we have in my view not the best marketing (starting with our brand). But we still do have some OGs like you that still back this up and support it. I admire your stand and the commitment a lot. I do not need the money immediately but probably mid-termed but do not plan to sell for nothing as I currently do on Splinterlands. Fingers crossed. A while ago I read a post on #hive that talked about the growth that hive would have in relation to the growth that bitcoin would have after the halving that happened in April of this year.
In the post it mentioned that the increase in BTC would not be spontaneous and would grow gradually by the end of the year, and consequently that is how our #hive currency would behave, that is why I have the expectation that the #hive could be at those values

Just do it! The Hive price generally follows BTC and it's not worth selling at $0.16 - power up earn some yield and even if you PD at $0.20 it'd better.
I do not expect it goes down a lot further - habe more trust in hive as I have in any token on this game aboubt monsters - on Hive even i totally disagree with a lot things I still have the naive thinking more people with the right brain and attitude are still there :-) - I might powerup a bit at least, not all (depending on what I can get).
The core community is mainly freakishly intelligent, but there's also a lot of sheeple around, it's inevitable.
There's still nothing quite like it, where you can earn say even $100 a month for just posting an interacting and having a bit of fun!
It's just rude to cash out more than 50% of what you earn, but people do.
But then again there's a lot of HP that never votes for them, so it's false economy on their part.

Musst für dich wissen, wohin die Reise geht und was du glaubst wie sich Hive entwickelt.
Momentan sehe ich es zwei geteilt. Es tut sich viel, frobtends werden weiter entwickelt, neue Spiele kommen etc.

Erst das mit Hivewatcher und nun das einige die bestrafen mit Voteentzug, weil sie auscashen, was aber ja Hive in gewisser Weise ausmacht. Damit wird ja geworben, ansonsten wäre Hive nichts anderes als X, FB und Co....
I've just powered up to 30k Hive (from 6k) myself. The time for this is perfect I think with this low price of Hive.

Meinerseits war das nur ein Spaß. Ich würde die HIVE an deiner Stelle wahrscheinlich ganz konservativ in Bitcoin investieren und auf den kommenden Bull-Run warten.

What you did 8 years ago matters little. Most of your time here is lost in farming the reward pool. You post music from YouTube, they are not yours. You have zero connection to community. All you guys do is complain.
