7 Years on Hive

Having re-read it now, I think that pretty much everything still applies a year later. It seems like the past year has been a year of building, with a lot of exciting projects underway that will hopefully be able to propel this ecosystem forward and help us compete in an increasingly crowded market of blockchain platforms.
For myself, I have spent the past year trying to get Splinterlands back on solid footing so that we can take advantage of what I expect could be another massive year for blockchain and web3 projects in 2025 and once again showcase to the world what is possible on the Hive blockchain.
I am extremely thankful and humbled for the support that the Hive community is currently giving us through our DHF proposal, and I take that responsibility very seriously. I don't know what the future holds, and I can't guarantee that Splinterlands will ultimately be successful, but I can guarantee that I am going to put everything I have towards making it work and providing substantially more value back to the Hive ecosystem than we have received.
I'm extremely excited to be able to attend Hivefest in person this year in Split, Croatia (the last time I attended in person was 2018 in Krakow, Poland), and I can't wait to meet many of you (or see you again for those who were in Poland) and get a chance to talk in person. I'm honored to have been asked to give a talk at the event, and I'm planning to do a bit of a deep dive on why exactly Hive is the best platform for decentralized application development, and what I think the challenges are, based on my experiences over the last 7 years as a Hive app developer.
This post is going to be significantly shorter than last year's, but that's mostly because I need to work on my Hivefest presentation and I'll be sharing a lot more thoughts about the Hive ecosystem there.

even though I haven't been active in spl since the alpha sale I find myself trusting it's in good hands now and am hopeful for its future and hive. Prices aside I believe we have immensely good odds of survivability compared to other chains and projects and I hope all the building will pay off in the near future. I still look forward to just seeing more people here using what we who've been here for longer may take for granted and that it gives them the same advantages it has given us no matter what the price of the coin is.

Splinterlands has proven in the past that it's solid project and I am quite hopeful that it will repeat the history again. I trust you and I am sure that you will do whatever is possible to take splinterlands forward. Spl is undoubtedly better than many projects in gaming space..

I stopped reading your name forwards, years ago. Happy to see you're still here, working and caring, instead of going backwards.
I don't pay much attention to the crypto world in general but I do see plenty banking on this 2025 thingamajig. Just know, the rest of the world exists in that year as well and if predictions aren't exactly what was in the brochure, you still have a solid product even those people could enjoy.
Something I learned over the years creating my own product was it wasn't less entertaining when the price was low or more entertaining when the price was high. Same shit. Different pile.

Congratulations on 7 years of building the Hive community. Incredibly all the projects you are currently on seem to work very well. I didn't know that the DHF proposal for Splinterlands had already been approved, I remember it was a mess from third parties trying to increase the Return proposal.

Consider revising the value plan, as it's not providing significant benefits to HIVE
The Value Plan, as it stands, seems to be a one-sided relationship with the HIVE platform, where the benefits are one-way

wow matt. thats a good haul. I am so happy that youre still so passionate and committed to the splinterlands cause. Ive been here with you guys since beta. I suck at accumulating wealth but Ive had a lot of fun playing the game and been constantly entertained by the drama and the vision around this cutting-edge development. Given the rollercoaster its been Im astonished that you havnt burned out and fled for the hills! Your resilience is an inspiration.
