SPLINTERLANDS: THE GAME CURRENCIES

HELLO, SPLINTERLANDS WORLD!

For the past months, Splinterlands has been improving its game nature so that players will experience the best gaming environment. From releasing new starter cards to producing new cards, from battling on an ordinary ground to developing the battle field, from very limited currency rewards to new sets of currencies and rewards, and many more. Those game improvements made Splinterlands a more promising NFT Game compared to others.

Speaking of currencies, Splinterlands have been three main currencies in the past, but now they decided to make it four, to reward players on their winning. This currency is Glint. But before we talked about that, let's discuss first the original currencies in the game: The Credits, Dark Energy Crystals (DEC),and Splinterlands (SPS).

CREDITS

All of us surely tried using Credits in the game because it is the first currency that we have after buying Spell Book. Credits are purchasable in the game and this can be use on buying at the shops and market. You can use credits to buy cards, card sets, card packs, potions, and many more. Compared to DEC and SPS, Credits are non-transferrable. It cannot be transferred into another player or account. Players can only use it in the game and that is the limitation of this currency. As of now, 1000 Credits is equivalent to $1.00. You can purchase it using Paypal or using other Crypto currencies allowed by the game (Please refer to the photo below).

DARK ENERGY CRYSTALS (DEC)

DARK ENERGY CRYSTALS or DEC has been the leading cryptocurrency in the game for many years. It was used by many players to buy cards, rent cards, buy packs and potions, lands, and many more. DEC can be transferred to other accounts or other players. It can also be converted into PHP or USD. If you are planning to buy DEC, you can do it using your country's currency, other cryptocurrency, and SPS (refer to the picture below for other ways or you can also visit the Splinterlands game interface to know more). On the previous years of Splinterlands, DEC can be obtained on some rewards, but now, they changed it. You can only use it to buy in-game items or convert it into real money. Since DEC is a cryptocurrency, it market value changes over time. As of now, the market value of one DEC is $0.0007753.

SPLINTERSHARDS (SPS)

SPLINTERSHARDS or SPS is now the governance token of Splinterlands ecosystem. When we say "governance token", this means that this is the currency being used by the players or stakeholders to be involved in decision-making in the game. This give players the power in the game on the future on Splinterlands by voting to proposals. We can obtain SPS by winning ranked battles, as long as we qualify for the requirements of getting the SPS Rewards. This cryptocurrency can also be converted into real money and can be purchased using other crypto currency. You can also choose to stake SPS in order for it to grow. You can also use this to buy DEC and vice versa. As of now, it has big impact in the game. In terms of its market value, 1 SPS is equivalent to $0.007622. In the past years, SPS was just one of the crypto currency in the game because DEC was the main crypto in the game. As time past by, owners and/or developers of Splinterlands decided to consider it as the main currency in the game due to its higher value compared to DEC.

GLINT

GLINT is one of the newest currency in Splinterlands. It is not transferrable and cannot be converted into something monetary. As of now, it can only be used to purchase Soulbound cards, chests, titles, energy, and potions. In order to obtain Glint, you have to win in rank battles and burn Soulbound Card. Glint is also one of the reward that we can get at the end of the season. By that, we can say that undeniably, Glint could be a game-changing currency in the game. As of now, this currency is slowly changing the battle field by letting players buy cards that can definitely change battle results. This, Glint, could be the next big thing in Splinterlands Community.
